Lets look at the other side … It MIGHT be that after losing his wife and kid , guy is so depress that he might have lost all his hope for life and MIGHT be suicidal etc etc , and his mom couldn’t see him like that , and decided to find him some happiness in life again .
So , we shouldn’t judge someone , you never know in what situation they are .

Heres a situation:
A named Blabla’s wife died somewhere around sept time.She passed away delivering a baby and the baby couldnt survive.Somewhere something went wrong i dont have details what happened and i wudnt share much either. So in matter of 3 months Blablas mommy is looking for a rishta. The guy is still young, loved his wife. Now most larkis his mom is approaching are unmarried .She aint reaching out for divorced ones
Now you discuss all the odds in this situation.
Well she can reach out to whoever I guess, there isn’t a rule that if you are divorced or widowed you have to marry the same, nothing in Islam about that, you are free to choose whomever you want.
IMO she doesn’t have to feel guilty about anything, if she can get an unmarried girl why would she go for divorced girl?
