All of us stop at red lights, that has nothing to do with what he said.

He said he doesn’t need to be SCARED into being a good person. Which means he doesn’t do whatever good he does due to fear from a God or due to expecting some kind of reward out of it, but does it because it’s the right thing to do.

OK. My question remains, why do we stop?

Is this because we want to be good people or have fear that from somewhere unknown a cop would come and catch us.

Come on. I asked a totally related question.

What happenes in religion is the same analogy. People who have fear of God do better deeds than those who do not. Moreover in religion there is a promise for reward. (Not present in stopping at the red light).

Anyone knows that the laws of the land are folllowed not just beacuse one wants to be a good person, it is mainly because of fear of getting punished and that by the way is the most potent deterrant.

P.S. I hope you have got the understanding of connection between my question and why someone is ‘assured’ to be a good person.
