babycenter.com
I still receive weekly newsletters for both my kids on progress charts, milestones, etc. I've been registered since the start of my first pregnancy. They are awesome and cite authentic sources.
Re: Your Top Rated Parenting Sites
what websites, people have been raising babies for eons without websites, my strategy is "seat of the pants parenting", if something HORRIBLE happens, we will call it a life lesson.
The only thing we refer to ever is the "what to expect the first year" book. Khalas, we don't run to our pediatrician for every little thing, we don't start worrying if she has a little cough, well, Steff's first instincts are the above, but I tie her up and don't let her. Lila is a tough little monkey, she can handle whatever we throw at her.
Once she starts crawling, my plan is to start leaving steak knives, electrical cords, and other dangerous things on the floor around the house, let her learn her life lessons.
She's going to be super awesome when she grows up, like her dad.
Re: Your Top Rated Parenting Sites
If you are into anal retentive parenting you can got to babycenter.com - it will give you ALL the options of what your child should be doing, what your child shouldn't be doing, development, activites, etc (did that with the first one)
If you want kid to be a kid - I would go with aahmed's philosphy (minus the steak knives) and let them be. (did that with the 2nd one)
Re: Your Top Rated Parenting Sites
aahmad pah ji rocks.
Thanks everyone.
Re: Your Top Rated Parenting Sites
I agree with aahmed, at the end of the day, a parent learns best with time. Don't ve overprotective. Websites are good for reference but stay within limits because there's TOO much out there which could actually be a negative. People write all sorts of rubbish and unnecessary stuff.
Re: Your Top Rated Parenting Sites
I AM NOTTT letting him play with knives
hhehhehe
kidding
yeh but I just like to have a referenace and keep an eye on how he's progressing in comparison to the norm.
Re: Your Top Rated Parenting Sites
I use babycentre just as a reference. I hardly ever apply any of it to my daughter.. but it lets me know whether my daughter is on track with things or not..
We actually lock up draws that have knives in them and harsh chemicals.. but since we've moved into the new place, we've not even done that... im surprised actually
in regards to chords... hmmm i hate having things lying around.. and ive witnessed my daughter tripping over way too many times and splitting her lip to leave things lying around anymore... sigh once or twice is ok.. more than that u really need to think whether you as a parent should make it a bit safe for the kid or just let it be..
Pampers have a very good site. Check it out.
