Here in the US, tax season starts in January and ends in April… not sure of the deadlines in other countries…
so you US/Canada/european ppl…how do you do your taxes?
Do them yourself?
Go to an accountant/CPA firm
go to private tax firms like H&R block/Liberty Tax/Jackson Hewitt?
go to IRS-sponsored sites?
Or just don’t do em

Unless you own a company or something else differently .. Most peoples taxes get done automatically by the state!
You've to fill out a paper in the beginning of each year, stating your income etc etc. If you do it, you get Taxfree bonus accordingly. If you write up a higher salary to have a higher bonus pr. month - then you're going to hate the month of march, as thats when Tax comes after you for their money!
Which reminds me, I'm expecting to get a refund this year yay :D

Turbo Tax offers a peace of mind warranty which I buy every year. They say if you get audited they will provide you a return review free and expert help to face that audit.
Plus I have pretty straight forward tax return. I do not do any hanky panky so what should I be afraid of ?
I am not hiding anything or trying to cut any corners.

If your taxes are straight (aka one pay cheque), There is almost 0% chance to go wrong even though systems cant be made fool proof. When i was in US, I did my taxes online (HR Block) for around 10-12 years without any problem.
You need help of adviser when you have self income to declare.
btw, H&R block also provide individualized business/complex taxes services.

Have pretty complicated returns (rental income, stocks, options etc) - use turbo tax premium and love it :)

My dad has an accountant do all our taxes. I just hand him all my T4s and he takes care of the rest.

i am tax consultant. we have our own cpa practice.
consultants of h& r blocks arent even qualified. just need to do 14 weeks course. yet they charge alot.
so you should go to proper accountant/ tax agent.

Mine is pretty straightforward so it is doable. My dad's is a lot more complicated but he has been doing his own for years also.

at the reminder of tax season
