I remember when Travel forum was first introduced, it generated a lot of traffic and many interesting threads. MMH and I would like your input on how to make it more interesting. Previuos mods have introduced some good ideas (Pakistani cities etc) to promote Pakistani culture and tourism. We would like to pick up from where they left.
There are few suggestions in my mind that i would like to share with you lot.
We can introduce a ‘Northern Areas’ thread. Though internet is full of information about them but many people want to ask about specific stuff such as prices, duration of a particular trip. We can help them out here and others by sharing personal experiences, official details etc so that when guppies plan to spend summer in pakistan, they have the required information about them.
‘Pakistani City’ is a good thing and should continue. I rememebr a thread where it was discussed if we should limit the duration, i.e. City of the fortnight’ etc. A fresh input would be great in this regard.
In about 10 days time, Golden Jubilee celebrations of K2 in concordia begin. K2 is undoubtedly amongst one of the most popular peaks in the world and generates a lot of tourism interest. We all can post anything that we seems can be shared regarding K2, its history and related stuff.
There was a very informative thread started named ‘Travelogues’. We can make it a sticky as it would encourage others to post their travel experiences throughout the world.
Every fortnight or week, we can dedicate a thread to most popular places in the world. This can be done randomly as there is no shortage of such places. Related information, personal experiences can be shared there too.
All these are suggestions, and apart from that K2 thing, nothing is finalized yet. Looking forward to input from you people. If you think that forum is fine the way it is, you should voice your opinion. Any other suggestions are most welcome.

Instead of only Pak cities, why cant we have just for Cities around the world, and these type of sub-forums and threads will encourage me atleast to click some interesting pics of the cities i visit.

We should have a thread for hotels/B&Bs around the world…your experiences, costs, recomendations and stuff when you stayed at that place…and if possible contact numbers and addresses so that if someone is visiting that place that will be a great help…
why not have a banner for one day every week/fortnite/month for a city...to start with, a pakistani city ... then may be extend it to other cities of the world as well....
how abt providing contact info of tour guides/travel guides who operate in pakistan whom ppl could contact if they want to travel within pakistan
if we dont wana do pvt agencies, we could only list govt agencies etc
hey ! GS could even have sponsors who wana advertise here and earn money thru this

more stories abt exquisite travel destinations which no one's heard abt...like the desert of thar in pak for example...
and how abt providing more details about tours...like Khanzada bhai's recent thread was good..he gave a cost breakup and his actual route..so one can just look at that and organise a tour oneself or actually go on a virtual tour...
oh! virtual tours of pakistani cities? how abt doing that thru diff parts of Pak and major cities...like "from the tourist's eye" typa thing..with pics?
and yeah how abt traditional music clips from different parts of pak to go with the cities...like they have in the geo weather news...
Irem, I dont know how I missed your post in this thread. Talk about a mod not checking his own thread.
Anyways lets look at your suggestions. They are pretty neat, specially the one with the tour guides, hotels and stuff, that can cover the interests of ppl coming to pakistan and wanna go to northeren areas etc.
Major pakistani cities have been covered in variuos threads previuosly and if i m not sure there were plenty informations regarding tourists perspective, i m not sure, will look to it.
Umm yes we can get some folk tunes in here but the thing is that there are so many, it sould be hard to decide how to encompass them in a comprehensive sorta way.

Definately Daagh's suggestion was nice and i m working on it. Still havent informed my co mod about it but i will and soon you will see somethign interesting in this regard, insha'allah
we can have those poll related threads related to travel tourism..
we can have threads about guppies favourite travel magazine or show..we can have thread on specific topics..like one thread could be decided to lakes, one could be beaches, one could be forests, mountains and you name it..
we can have a thread about best deals/best airfare available related .. we could have a thread about contests that wins you travelling..or maybe a thread about travel getway deals
we can even have thread about travel books and guides..

GS bhai-- thanks a lot for the suggestions yaar. Yes the northeren areas thing is a must for sure and that will cover the areas you mentioned insha'allah.
