Your rights as a consumer

I am currently studying for a consumer law exam. There is a possibility that a current awareness question may come up.

After engaging in reading the literature available in this area, certain themes seem to keep arising. It would be interesting to note how you as consumers and the greater public react. GS is a good platform from which to derive some answers as we have such vast demographics available here.

*Do you know your general consumer rights country specific)?

*Do you believe there are adequate rights in place currently?

*If you had a complaint and wanted to enforce your consumer rights, would you feel comfortable doing so? If not, why not?

*Please feel free to share any experiences where your consumer rights have been effectively enforced (it does not matter if it is a minor grievance) or where you have been left dissatisfied by the way a problem has been handled.

Thanks

Re: Your rights as a consumer

Normally at every place you get served by poor employees. If I don't get most amazing service in the world, I don't make it a big deal at all.
I have worked at the store. Now when I go to such a place I try to facilitate employees as much as I can.

Consumer rights ?? lolzzzzzz
my bosses gave every right to kick ppl out. I used to kick a$$ all the time.
I mean I had THE worst attitude at that place. Many fights.
wow It was fun time. I miss it.

Re: Your rights as a consumer

I think your consumer rights vary depending on whether you are shopping at some uppity store, harrods maybe? or walmart. At the latter you would probably be told to ‘get movin’ if you had a complaint. Unless you want to take it all the way to a court, which many wont.

As for the questions:

  • not really
  • not sure, depends on whether they actually work
  • I dont think so - what I do is, let them know if something I bought was messed up, if they agree on a replacement, fine - if they don’t, I will just toss it on their counter and leave, and ideally not go back to that store
  • might have happened a few times when something I bought and took home, I discovered it was broken or otherwise not useable. Took it back, they said I should have checked beforehand and now it can’t be replaced. Just like I said, tossed it at the counter and walked out.

PS. I have censored the swearing parts :vivo:

yes indeed i know as i have been a business student in Bachelor and also studied consumer laws in Pakistan but all these laws are only in books not applied generally if Pakistan is concerned then.

here money and influence is everything.

corruption is there so in such situations you could only dream off it not practically implement it.
