Your reaction to US oil spillage disaster

US Coast Guard officials have indicated that an oil spillage in the Gulf of Mexico is five times worse.than previously thought. Is the right action being taken to tackle the crisis?

5,000 barrels (210,000 gallons) a day are said to be gushing into the sea 50 miles (80km) off Louisiana’s coast. A third leak has also been discovered at the site.

Engineers are believed to be working on a dome-like device to cover oil rising to the surface and pump it to container vessels but it may be weeks before this is in place.

Meanwhile, weather forecasters have warned that changing winds could drive the oil slick ashore by Friday night.

Are you affected by the oil slick, or have you seen it spreading? What measures should be taken to reduce the number of environmental disasters?
