Why the number placement is opposite in both keypads? In your phone, number starts from top right and ends at zero (zero comes after 9), while in computer keypad, number starts from bottom right and zero comes before 1.
I always think about it, and it always makes me wonder. Asking it for the first time so you genius people can help me out with this question
Re: your phone keypad vs your computer numeric pad
Haven't bothered to see why they are the way they are, but it's awesome when you try to punch in numbers with your eyes closed. You do get the numbers always right as long as you're visualizing the proper keypad i.e. phone or keyboard.
It's a bit like knowing two languages. When I visualize telling my friend in school that he's an idiot I say it in Urdu and when I visualize telling my boss at work that he's an idiot I say it in English (emphasis on visualize). Depending on the recipient of the information, my protocol and set of instructions delivered by my mouth changes. Same goes for the fingers punching in numbers.
Re: your phone keypad vs your computer numeric pad
I know. I had to do the same. Back in the day when I was in the process of getting my Mrs. to US I used to dark dial the USCIS number. Had practice so good that I didnt even had to open eyes to dial numbers and punch in all the prompts.
