Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

what do you people think will he be good prime minister?

I don’t support PPP but I like the guy, looks honest!!! hope he is!!

Re: Your opinion on our new prime minister (fahim)

Is the Fahim nominated as "final" candidate or is it still in talks?

Re: Your opinion on our new prime minister (fahim)

^^^^ According to jang and other newspapers he is nominated as their candidate for prime minister

Re: Your opinion on our new prime minister (fahim)

What do YOU think of him?

Re: Your opinion on our new prime minister (fahim)

Like i said before, i'll say again. He seems like a suitable candidate. He is a humble man. He speaks when he has something to say and just don't utter nonesense. He's more of a cool-minded guy than most other people on the scene.

Best of luck to him.

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

The real concern is, how does all that translate into actual (good) governance? How independent from his party as an executive can he function? We all know PPP is a wadera mindset, and a cherry topping is the fact that it's now wholly owned by Asif. How useful for Pakistan and citizens could Fahim's relaxed, contained and cool stance be, not the least in containing his party leadership's wadera instinct?

Re: Your opinion on our new prime minister (fahim)

I agree with you.

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

I do not like this whole setup. Amin Makhdoom Faheem should have been the leader of his party. He should have been selecting the PM. Him, selected by Zardari (who inherited the party), is a mockery of whatever democracy stands for.

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

Please Robert. Dont complain about democractic values. Your Mushy had non of all and you were blindly following him. Did you see you complaining then?

Amin Fahim will do a good job (inshallah). Its all working as promised :jhanda:

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

sorry to ruin your party pal.
speaking of Musharraf, he was a dictator. He was not answerable to anyone. yet he improved country’s economy, education and freed media. what a waste.
He did’nt have to do all this. He could have secured his place, just by using the name of islam. kinda like Zia did. and people like him just because of it.

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

yes, the guy may look honest and humble, but i don't think he will do anything independently, because zardari is the head of the party, so obviously amin fahim is going to work under him isnt he?

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

Amin Fahim may be a suitable candidate and humble (I don't disagree), compared to others in the same field but the question that arises is that will he be just a puppet in front or totally independant? He may be an imporatant figure in PPP but is he going to make decisions on his own or is AZ gonna be calling the shots while Amin Fahim follows him?

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

PPP would have been better off, with Makhdoom as their party head and a new face for the PM position.

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

It always helps to have one point of power. One person representing the decision-making. One person to take responsibility. It keeps it clear. It keeps it unambiguous. We exactly know who is making the decisions and who is to blame for mistakes.

In a situation where the PM is a front-man, with an even more powerful person in the background who is actually running the party, it is always tricky. It can still work, if the person in the background has no political ambitions of his own and the person in the front is a capable administrator and leader (e.g. Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Sindh). With Zardari lurking in the background who is a publicity hog (as is demonstrated by his constantly being in the news in the last 2 weeks), and may have his own plans to run in a bye-elections and get in the parliament, it will always be a question-mark whether Amin Faheem will have a Jamali-like end, where after some time, the political ambitions of the back-end leader overtake his better instincts, and he will kick Amin Faheem aside and assume the reins himself.

This also causes confusion in bureacracy. Is the order from PM house to be honored, or should it be on hold till Zardari House approves it. Makes for a dysfunctional set up.

Hopefully, Amin Faheem will become Prime Minister, if he becomes Prime Minister, clearing all these things with Zardari first and be an effective and able Prime Minister, rather than just be the front-face and rubber-stamp for someone else who is in the background.

Pakistan faces too many important decisions right now to have massive ambiguity in power structure.

Re: Your opinion on probable Prime Minister Amin Fahim

So It was just about the religion which made Zia bite into dust?
Let us take out the religious element from Zia...do you see similarities between both? If you do, how can you then support another dictator with same values and attitude? He has done enough for his family members to secure a better life in Pak.
Finally, regarding free media....we know about the "black outs" of Geo Aaj Arys. Dont we?
