The boob job is for people suffering for psychological issues as a result of their breasts.
Would you mind sharing specifically what psychological issues women suffer as a result of their breasts? And I'm not referring to people who have suffered from breast cancer or any other accident/illness.
If you knew more you would have known there's no test for 'psychological' reasons.. The girl just has to say she is unhappy with the size of her breasts.. You obviously don't have much (if any) experience in healthcare because you would have know that as well as the fact that the NHS also provides COSMETIC scar treatment and other similar procedures free of charge.. oh and the comment about 'there's no such thing as mild cleft palate.'ry
Rather than being emotional try learning the facts.. and I highly doubt you're a medical student (ihere in the UK anyway).. I know more than you about the NHS and I didn't even study medicine..
Firstly, no Lasik is not cosmetic. Cosmetic is too improve appearance only. Lasik is actually taking care of conditions, and in some cases, assist with the treatment of eye diseases.
Overall, theres absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to feel good about how you look. Self confidence (or lack thereof) can really affect one's personality. Men have it ALOT easier than women. We age better (for the most part) and its alot easier for us to keep maintained and for most cases we wont need surgery. But ofcourse it depends on severity. Ive had a broken nose for 4 years now and people wont notice it till I point it out.
Saying that, I personally dont like botox.
I get what dopplekopf is saying and I totally agree with the msg hes trying to get across, or atleast what got across to me.
I'm not sure how I'm very wrong....I did say "In many cases" to qualify my reply.
In any event, it seems that you missed the sarcasm in my post......
The idea was to illustrate the difference between a surgery that is oft done to enhance quality of basic life versus something that is done as a result of a weak self-image or vanity.
Your very wrong on the cleft palate as i did work experience at the hospital at the ENT department. cleft palate prevent people eating and even swallowing at ease at times there it a gap between the roof of their mouth and nose this causes food to get stuck in this area it can also lead to deformation in adult teeth as they come out further leading to more issues with chewing.
The question that keeps going through my mind is how do you determine whether the case of "suffering self-image" needs to be treated by a psychiatrist or through an "enhancement" procedure?
There are people who have taken their own lives as a result of 'what' they see in the mirror. Sad.
