Your Old Laptop

We have been talking a lot about the NEW laptop, so here we come to discuss about old laptop because Old is Gold.

Don’t tell me you will just throw it away.

What would you do with it?

Re: Your Old Laptop

the oldest one I have right now, other than the ones I threw away is a 2007 HP Pavilion DV2000. It is such an old spec laptop but yet for some reason, I feel hesitant to throw it away. I even have everything backed up from it. I guess part of the reason why I don't want to get rid of it is because I still remember how happy I was when I brought it home.
What am I going to do with it? I really don't know. Maybe part it out ? but even parting it out don't matter these days. No one is gona buy it :(

I also want to know what people do with their old laptops other than just getting rid of them?

Re: Your Old Laptop

I usually turn mine into a linux machine. I have about 4 right now that have different distro of linux on them.

Re: Your Old Laptop

What is a Linux machine?

I have 2 old lappys sitting in my closet. Their screens don’t work. Is there any way I can connect them to my current laptop to have a display and backup files?

Re: Your Old Laptop

use one of those laptop and setup your tv with lightpack

I just throw them away … I don’t like have lots of wires/machines in my room

Re: Your Old Laptop

haha good to see that I am not the only weird one who installed Linux on the old box

Re: Your Old Laptop

Linux is a operating system like windows.

If either of them have a video output you can connect them to a monitor or a TV.

Re: Your Old Laptop

nope. I am there too.....Thats the one place linux shines....on the old boxes....

Re: Your Old Laptop

I could hypothetically use my old laptop to test programs that I write on newer platforms and see if they work. Although another good option is to install Linux on it. I've been considering that for some times but never got around to it.

Re: Your Old Laptop

Oh, I see. I shall check if they've got a video output.

Thank you! I'm at the very least learning and broadening skills. :)

Re: Your Old Laptop

I bet you are in love with that laptop, may be if you fall in love with the current or the one you buy next time then it would be easier to throw the old one lol

Re: Your Old Laptop

I wonder if you got a server room at home lol mini office where you keeping 4 laptops.

Re: Your Old Laptop

I am thinking to connect it to my current laptop and use two screens at a time, makes life easier.

Re: Your Old Laptop

I wouldn’t like having too many machines all around either, enough of technology.

Re: Your Old Laptop
