The first time I was in chat, this pervy mod insinuated that I was a woman, &passive aggressively suggested that I should start sharpening up my chai trolley skills.

my most memorable has been on a night when we were sharing Punjabi songs in the chat room! that was fun, found myself some new party songs.:balley:

Most memorable moments!! Oh man there are so many!

  • Agree with Gems! Punjbai/ Bhangra music night was loads of fun! Brought back memories of songs I hadn’t heard in yearssss!

  • The night STA "meow"ed at me! :hehe:

  • The time we convinced (someone) to sing.

  • The time Cheegum told us cheesy (but funny) jokes for hours!

I don’t even remember how it happened. I think everyone was making fun of my old ID and pronouncing it weird, and like an hour later, we just hear STA meowing over mic.
It was pretty freaken comical! :omg:

Chat is pretty much where I got to know most of my GS friends. Lots has gone down on chat - can’t remember specifics at the moment though.

My most memorable experience was the come back of chat.

When there was no GupShup, there was IRC (chat) ~1991-93.
Then we built GS to record what was going on chat. Then chat took a back seat as GS grew. Then chat kinda died .. ~late 90s.

we brought back chat in early 200s but only as a text and secondary medium.

the real memories were made when we launched the audio chat in 08 i think. that was the come back of chat. it took a key role in GS. On some days there would be 40+ users logged on to audio/video chat at the same time. Record was 78 users.

then chat kinda died again .. people/crowd moved on and there were no scandals to talk and no fights to fight (we thrive on these, dont we?)

and now, with the latest chat bar, i see some excitement coming back but its more utilitarian .. not fascination .. maybe we have come to expect chat just like we expect electricity in the house. dont care for it until its out.

but still .. i have most fond memories of GS made in chat like …

I used to be a regular in chat. Made my best friends there and enjoyed a lot. Used to be there for hours every night and then I grew up :frowning:

Most memorable incident was when Gaia made alu gobhi on chat. She cooked right infront of a few of us and pretended she’s doing a cooking show. :hehe:
