Your love for Win 8/Your hate for Win 8

I have mixed feelings about Windows 8 since its’ public appearance when a beta was released to try out for an year. Then the official version came out. I have it on my desktop running dual-boot with Windows 8 and Windows 7 Ultimate. I find myself using Win7 almost all the time. Except once in a while I would boot into Windows 8. Maybe If I used it more, I would start to like it more? :hehe:

What I like: Tiles, Quicker access to some key areas like Control Panel, Search, the ability to move and reorganize “Start Screen”.

What I dislike: Missing Start button in Desktop mode. The lack of My Computer/Computer icon so you can easily launch and open multiple folders/windows.

Share yours.

Re: Your love for Win 8/Your hate for Win 8

Classic Start brings back the familiar start button. In fact, Microsoft should have gone in this way as not only is the start button preserved, but all the apps on the metro side appear in a menu as well. Even apple hasn't merged the tablet / phone landscape with its Mac side so rapidly, but I guess the dair shudd aye Microsoft decided to leverage its desktop line for the tablet / phone line so that developers would develop apps for the metro app store. I updated one of my computers to the Win 8, but the irony is that the tablet pc "broke" on Windows 8 with many of the drivers not working even with new installed drivers from the manufacturer side. Perhaps, the manufacturer is to blame for the fiasco but it left a bad taste and I am back to Win 7. Even still, Win 7 is supported until 2020 and who knows with the new CEO, Microsoft might change direction and produce a winning Windows 9 formula? :D

Re: Your love for Win 8/Your hate for Win 8

Windows 8 starting to feel like Vista all over again? Windows 9 would be what Vista/Windows 8 should have been to begin with? Wouldn't be surprised.

8.1 Update is supposed to address a lot of issues based on customer feedback.....

Re: Your love for Win 8/Your hate for Win 8

Just hate windows 8 and cant downgrade because my machine is secure boot.

Working on having a dual boot on my machine for windows 8 and Linux mint 15.

Re: Your love for Win 8/Your hate for Win 8

I have downgraded few that came with 8. You need to change UEFI Boot to legacy in bios. The rest is same as any os install. Id find drivers beforehand though. Would suck to be missing drivers later. Lol

Re: Your love for Win 8/Your hate for Win 8

I would rather not mess with the machine and install linux on it so I could do my stuff on it. Thanks for the information though....

Re: Your love for Win 8/Your hate for Win 8

Windows 8 isn't really that bad. But then all I ever use my computer for is internet. And I switched to the classic start menu the day I bought my win 8 computer, that probably helped.

No love or likes, just hate for 8 :nook:

Re: Your love for Win 8/Your hate for Win 8

The only viable option for your average joe six pack is go into the Apple word. If one is worried about usability and drivers, hell hath no fury like a linuxee scorned! :D
