Re: Your life partner’s profession
What a contradiction.
People tend to drift away alot and while focusing on earning and education, they forget the values of their close ones.

Re: Your life partner’s profession
i think we just may have to agree to disagree. it is not necessary for both spouses to work to 'show' that they can lead their own life. i believe if the guy is capable of handling the family finances..then he should be the one doing it. yes, if it is necessary then sure..both of you can work. and if you're newly married and the girl has nothing to do at home..sure work..keep yourself busy.
but once the kids come - i'm a firm believer that the wife should stay home and take care of the kids, their upbringing..and take care of the home. but hey..that's me..

hmm as far kids .. i agree that a wife should stay home to take care of them.. but once again,, it is not a must...
A wife studies as hard as a hubby does.. so why waste it.. why not work.. if ur kids are old goes to school.. then hey start working again.. but again depends on hubby if he allows.. i focus more on hubby's well then my own :)

Re: Your life partner’s profession
Ideally I think a wife should stay at home after kids... but only if its possible to provide what else the family needs on a single income. It's why I'm a megafan of the joint family system. The joint family empowers dual income families through leaving a safe home environment for the kids (ie with the grandparents).
My personal priority is making sure my kids go through private education, as I did, to make sure they have access to the best teachers. That is very pricey, and could be very challenging on a single income (depending on how my career goes). So... I'm in favour of stay-at-home mothers, unless it is a hinderance to my kids getting quality education.
