Mine:-

CPU: 7.5 (AMD Phenom II 1100T Black Edition)
RAM: 7.5 (2x4 GB Corsair)
Graphics: 6.7 (Geforce GT240)
Gaming: 6.7
Hard Disk: 5.9 (STD 7200 RPM SATA)

Overall: 5.9

Performance Index: 5.9

5.9 on the computer now (vaio) while lenovo is 4.1, which went down when I installed Win7 but has gone up due to better drivers from lenovo. I think it is 6.9 for my smaller vaio.

Everybody is at 5.9 - Including me unless you are running something custom made by Alienware or a PC by Chaud from Mmo-champion.

index score takes which ever is lowest.

so basically its hdd time to upgrade ssd :smiley:

^ overall index is determined by lowest score. Most users go for 7200 rmp SATA drives, which results 5.9 rating for hard disk. 10000 rmp SATA or SSD will produce different results.

7,200 rpm drive won’t hold down your score but it is usually the aero graphics or the windows gaming score. And no, 5.9 is not the max (the scale is 7.9 I believe?) as the smaller vaio I have is 6.5 / 6.9 if I remember at the top of my head.

as long as I can work and play the latest games I’m fine with my System cuz I’m the one who knows what my System can and can not. Performance Index is just there to ‘activate’ Aero.

but it says base score “determined by lowest subscore” when you do it.

I just posted this in the other thread lol didnt know there is thread dedicated to performance scores.

CPU 7.5
RAM 7.8
GPU both 7.9
drive score is 5.9

I have the fastest SATA2 7200k available in the market but yeah still the score is 5.9
You got to have an ssd which is twice as fast the standard 7200k drives or the 7200k drives in Raid 0

Vista had highest score of 5.9 I think. They changed to 7.9 in windows 7.

I never said it didn’t, but reread my post where I said HDD won’t hold down your score. At least that has been my experience across couple of computers that I own and use.

PS Does Mac have something like that? I might be getting one for something but I am unfamiliar with OS.X or snow leapord whatever you guys use there…

Are those the hybrid drives that have a 10 / 20 gb flash component where your system resides for fast startups? I wonder how heated the system gets compared to the regular HDDs and the cool SSDs.

I still don’t get what you are saying? If all the other scores are over 7 and HDD is 5.9 - 5.9 is your base score, so it is holding it down. Take lafanter’s scores as an example.

Anyway, I don’t take it as an ‘overall’ score as mentioned above. It seems to me more like ‘here is the lowest scoring part of your system’. Maybe that’s what you’re saying?

Yeh Hybrids give the best of both worlds. They have no heat issues. They are not as fast as the SSDs but close.

Yes it does hold you down. The lowest sub score is your bottle neck, so in over all comparison a computer can be as fast as its slowest component.

I said that HDD is not the “score” that has held down my performance score on my computers, unlike gaming or aero graphics.
