While we are at it why not a thread for the first love of a man, cars.
Mine was an old beat up 1968 Toyota corona , back in Pakistan , no I am not so old , the car was very old and my brother bought it for me so that I could learn to drive it and go to my first job after completion of my education. You know in Pakistan even a 50 year old car would still be on the roads. It needed fixing or repairing every few weeks. I would sit down at the mechanic to learn what is going on, that way I learned a lot about cars internals. But I still loved it as it was mine and gave me mobility in Karachi where public transport is horrible. Within 6 months the company I worked for gave me a brand new shiny company maintained company car.
What is your story of the first car ?
Re: Your first car.
The first car I actually bought myself was when I moved to the US and bought a BMW 325i. Loved the power and feel of Bimmer's inline 6. Sold it after 2 years and moved to VW and then back to BMW.
When I first started driving (back in Pakistan), I did my *haath saaf *on various Suzukis (800, Alto etc) before settling on a dark-gray '92 Suzuki Swift. Bought it brand new and maintained it in mint condition till 1997. After that was driving assorted Corollas, Civics etc before we moved to the US.
Re: Your first car.
My first own car was a Ford Mondeo (1995) which I bought in 1999. Before that I had been driving my dad's car.
As far as I know the Mondeo is called Contour or something like that in the US.
Re: Your first car.
My first car was a measly 1996 Dodge Neon that i bought in 2001 i think and recently sold it, a couple of months ago.
Re: Your first car.
The first car I owned was a 1991 Toyota Camry which I bought in 1998. It was kinda forced upon me by my dad - figures :) - can't complain though... I kept it for 3 years... and then handed it down to my younger brothers who drove it for another 3 years or so. The car was one of the most reliable cars I've had - gave me no problems at all and between me and my brothers, we pretty much drove it to the ground.
After the Camry, I've had a Grand Am, an Acura 3.2CL and currently a Nissan Altima 3.5. Hoping to be able to buy an Acura RL in the next couple of years or so.
Re: Your first car.
my firs car was Hinda civic 95
Re: Your first car.
My first car was a Mitsubishi Eclipse, I cant even remember what year but my uncle drove it first so it wasn't technically mine. My first car that my dad got me was Lincoln LS and then Range Rover(handed down also but didnt take much for it to feel "mine" :D) and I haven't really owned a car that I bought myself but inshAllah soon I will.
Re: Your first car.
First ride was 96 Nissan Maxima SE purchased in 99. Maaan that was one sweet ride. And pretty nice for a first car. It was a fast runner, i still miss it.
Re: Your first car.
I have you ALL beat to shreds lol!! :)
My first car was a 1967 mustang with dual-exhaust cherry bomb mufflers. And a 1972 rebuilt double-barrel 402 engine from a mercury cougar.
I LOVED that car man. You could hear me coming from 5 miles away - blumblumblum went the engine lol!!
I learned how to change its oil, I did repairs on it (changed the alternator, did the timing chain which means we had to pull the engine lol), did the brakes. It was my "college commuting car", it took me to college every day and there were days that - even with its 8-cylinder racecar engine - I could go to the gas station on "empty", put $2 gas in the tank and get there and back home no problem.
Poor car...it was squashed in an accident during my last days of college. I was sitting at a red lite minding my own business when this jerk (who said he didnt see the red light) plowed into me at 40mph. I crashed into the guy in front of me who crashed into the guy in front of him...it was a total MESS from which my neck has yet to recover from. Saddest thing is that my beauteous mustang was towed to a junkyard and when I went back 2 or 3 days later to see it, it had been cannibalized - the steering wheel, gas cap, hub caps and anything "mustang" was stolen.
HOW I loved that car and miss it!!
my first car that I bought was co-owned by me and my roommate. We paid 300 dollars for that. It was a red 1984 Toyota Tercel.
and the one I owned by myself was a black 1984 Dodge Daytona. I paid 800 dollars for that. I loved that car.
Re: Your first car.
the 1st car i ever drove was my dad's 1998 Toyota Corolla.
The 1st car i bought was a 2002 Toyota Camry, I really loved it...BUT it got stolen right in front of my house! :(
So i settled on a '05 Corolla as it is VERY reliable :)
Re: Your first car.
1992 Geo Prizm. No CD player, NO AC, the car was literally a ball of rust, the steering weel shock if the car was driven over 50 mph.
Re: Your first car.
