Who named him/her?
I find it hilarious how, in desi families, the entire khandaan wants to name the newborn!

Lot's of people gave suggestions. Ammi was probably the most vocal in vetoing names. Hubby and I liked this one the most, and it got a good reaction. So it stuck.

Husband and I have decided the names... we have shared the names with both set of parents.. they liked it so I have a feeling we will stick to it!
I dunno anyone in our family where the first one was named by anyone but the parents.. however some but not all, for second or third, they requested close family members to name the baby!!! like I named my second nephew but that was only because my sister requested it and because he looked so much like me that if she hadn't given birth to him, everyone would think he is mine :D

Got a lot of suggestions,actually asked for a lot of suggestions.
My husband loved this one name.It was my second choice.When we saw her,we knew what we wanted.We named her what the husband liked.

For us it was just begum and me. We didn't ask or accept anyone's suggestions and once we made a decision we didn't share with anyone until after she was born.

We got suggestions but my husband and I chose the name and kept it to ourselves until the baby was born.

We asked everyone for suggestionsā¦ Especially parentsā¦ But everyone knew decision will be oursā¦ In the end we found the name ourselvesā¦
This time aroundā¦ We already know the nameā¦ Now if only the gender would fit otherwise its back to the drawing board

My mil named my first baby girl, she asked me if we liked the name or not. I was ok with us. For the second baby I named him Abdullah because its one of the fav names of Allah. I had this name in my mind before i ws expecting. I told my mil abt the name and she loved it too.

^ This is the plan SO & I have for our future kids. We already have agreed on names and don't plan on asking anyone for suggestions. And I have also forbidden him from sharing the chosen names with anyone until the child is born. :)

On-topic: I named my baby brother so I already have some experience in this and I expect I'll be naming my kids too!

Omg me too! Exceptā¦it wasnāt really a name. I mean, it was a word. But not even a coherent word. But that was his first name dammit!

we've chosen one name for each gender, and we've only shared with parents and my brother. everyone else will find out when the Bean is here iA.

If only that worked in every desi family.
It felt like the whole nation was trying to name my little one whilst I was in hospital quite ill.
In the end I got so sick of the whole situation I almost gave up! Luckily I managed to name our little daughter.

Again everyone gave suggestions!.. but at the end me n hubby chose from our lil shortlist.
