Your favourite teabags ...

Re: Your favourite teabags ...

CB you can get Assam from the shop Whittards, bag or loose. I'm sure you must have one where you live!

Twinnings also do one (Sainsburys, Tescho etc) but it's not that strong - I don't really like it.

Re: Your favourite teabags ...

Well my sister is obsessed with Whittards and she always buys their green tea/Morocon tea and recently they had a 3 for 2 offer on so she bought the Assam tea. She doesnt drink black tea so I drank it and now im hooked!

I think Twinings do Assam tea too. It's very rich in flavour and I think comes from India.

There should be a Whittards in your local high street.

Re: Your favourite teabags …

Re: Your favourite teabags ...

Wait for the 3 for 2 offers and buy their hot chocolate (if they have it in the offer), im not a huge fan of hot chocolate, but theirs is nice.

Re: Your favourite teabags ...

Tetley tea bags because they are much stronger than other tea bags.

Re: Your favourite teabags ...

pg tips all the way! their pyramid shape with no string is awesome as well as the strong, robust flavor and scent. add some crushed elaichi, saunf and a tad of cinnamon.

ahhhhh :)

tetley is also good, esp the loose tea

Re: Your favourite teabags …

I know some people like to leave it in and I have done so occasionally but to be honest, the tea just becomes bitter. If you drink it before it gets to that point, then you won’t notice and it’s okay. Also, I find the people who leave it in are usually the ones that don’t brew the tea properly first, so when they add the milk it’s too weak.

So, try heating your cup with some boiling water first so it doesn’t get cold so quickly. Then put the teabag in (I put my sugar in now too). Water to make the tea should be as soon as the kettle has boiled - it shouldn’t be sometime after. Leave a little bit of space for the milk. Now brew for at least a 1 min, stirring occasionally. If you’re using filtered water you can brew for longer, otherwise if you’re in a hard water area, you will get calcium deposits floating on the top which don’t look nice. Then add the milk SLOWLY! This is really important. You should see the milk and tea combine and to make a deep dark caramel colour… it will never look white and milky. Remove the teabag, giving it a little squeeze on the side of the cup, then stir.

The microwave ‘cooks’ the tea giving it the kind of taste you get from cooked desi chai. I’m getting a feeling that you quite like that taste, but it is different.

Re: Your favourite teabags ...

Harney & sons makes really good tea bags (like literally in cute little satin pyramid shaped tea bags) my regular one is Earl grey and my everyday tea is Tetley orange pekoe, which they introduced a more 'bold' flavor as well, which is super satisfying after a long hard day :)

Re: Your favourite teabags ...

Yup.Tetley British blend is the one I use.It is stronger than Lipton teabags.
