Like him? I don’t know him well enough to like him or hate him as an individual. I like his format of tafsir. And I say this generally…that liking someone’s work…be it a novel or whatever does not automatically imply that the person knows the artist/author very well…nor does it automatically imply that the person agrees with every thing the person says and does in their life.
I would humbly suggest that you do research on what the vast majority of scholars have to say, you can look into the rulings of the 4 madhabs, and you can study the life or seerah of the prophet SAWS. After all this research, …look within your heart to decide what kind of a religion Islam is overall.
