So I’m positive every Muslim respects and loves all Shabahs equally, but if you have to pick one name only, who is your favorite Sahaba and why?
Re: Your favorite Sahaba
Hazrat Bilal Habashii [R.A] simply because he was one of the most favourite of Huzuur [SAWS]. at zuhr time on the day of conquest of Mecca Prophet {SAWS] was surrounded by rich people of Mecca but he quickly asked someone where Hazrat Bilal was and asked him to come over and call azaan :)
Re: Your favorite Sahaba
I'll go with Umar (Bin Al Khattab).. because the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) told him once that if there were any prophet to come after me that would be you Umar. Muslims could not say their prayers publicly but all this changed when Omar became a Muslim. Kuffars were so afraid of him that they had no courage to utter a word of reproach. That's why he was given the title of Farooq which means the one who makes a difference. Omar's acceptance of Islam had made a big difference for Islam and Muslims.

Re: Your favorite Sahaba
Hazrat Umar. In addition to his knowledge of Islam, he was a extremely learned man and one of the greatest administrators of all time. In the space of a few years, he changed the map of the entire Eastern world.
Re: Your favorite Sahaba
May ALLAH keep those who love HAZRAT BILAL-E-HABASHI from true heart with him on the day of Qayamat. What a great sahabi he was. I pray that May ALLAH let u follow Hazrat-e-Bilals seerat. Here is short Biography of him:
Bilal is very lovingly remembered by all Muslims of the world as one of the earliest great African Muslim.
He was born in a village in a mountainous place in Western Arabia. Bilal’s father was called Rebah and his mother was known as Hamama.[1]](http://www.al-islam.org/gallery/kids/Books/bilal/1.htm#r1) They had come to Arabia as slaves from Ethiopia. The father and mother were slaves of Ummayya bin Khalaf, a rich man from the tribe of Quraish. Bilal was therefore born in slavery and served as a housekeeper. His master Ummayya bin Khalaf was not a Muslim.
When Bilal was about the age of 40, it was the time when Prophet Muhammad started teaching the new religion of Islam, Bilal was attracted by the teaching of Prophet Muhammad. He accepted the religion of Islam and became a Muslim.
When Ummayya bin Khalaf and his family went to worship idols, Bilal would pray to Allah as taught by Islam.
In the early days of Islam the tribe of Quraish who were strong and many and lived in and around Makkah, disliked Islam.
They also disliked Prophet Muhammad and his new teachings. If any person accepted the new religion, they oppressed and harassed him.
One day Ummayya bin Khalaf came to know of Bilal’s secret prayers. He called Bilal and asked,
“Oh Bilal, do you worship and bow down to the God of Muhammad?”
Bilal was not afraid. He replied,
'Yes Master, I do worship Allah, the only God."
The reply angered Ummayya greatly. He began to torture Bilal. He was tied with ropes and made to lie on the burning hot desert sand at mid-noon. He was then asked to forget the God of Islam and worship the ‘great’ idols known as LAT and UZZA. But Bilal was strong in his new belief. He refused to worship idols and kept crying “AHAD-AHAD”, meaning “One God, One God.” The tortures continued and were increased. Hot iron rod were stamped on his pained body. Yet Bilal would not yield.
On one hot day Bilal lay on the burning hot sand tied to the ground. A very heavy stone was placed over his chest. Bilal could no longer bear the heat and the load so great. He had also grown weak. In that tied condition even water was denied to him. In the condition he lay and lost his senses. As the day neared its end, it became cooler; he regained his conscious (senses). He found that the heavy stone was no more on his chest. He wondered who had come to free him from pain. His heavy eyes slowly opened only to look at the bright smiling face of Prophet Muhammad.
Prophet Muhammad had heard of and seen the torture of Bilal. It pained him extremely to learn that a true believer should suffer in such a manner. He also felt pity for the poor man He told Abu Bakr to purchase Bilal from Ummayya and set him free. This was done. In similar ways the Prophet had many slaves set free. He insisted that slaves be treated fairly and kindly. By his own conduct he also set such examples.
When Bilal first came before the Holy Prophet, he praised the Holy Prophet in two poetic lines of his native language. The Prophet asked Hassan bin Thabit to translate it in Arabic. He translated it in words which means:
“When in the world, the virtues are described, thou art mentioned as the model of virtues in our midst.”
Among the slaves from Africa, Bilal was the first to accept Islam. He had a strong faith in Allah and a great love for the Prophet. He had a pure character. Soon he earned high respect of the Prophet and other great Muslims of the time. The Prophet liked Bilal’s sweet voice and made him the first Muazzin -The Caller To The Prayers.
All through his life Bilal remained a close companion of Prophet Muhammad and was with him at every occasion. When the Prophet died he was very saddened. Thereafter all his life he looked grieved and very solemn. He had gone to Madina when the Prophet had migrated. After the death of the Prophet he did not feel happy to stay in Madina. He sadly discontinued giving ‘adhan’ and migrated to Damascus, Syria. He died there after about eight (or ten) years. His grave is still existing in the famous Muslim graveyard in Damascus. People still go to his grave to pay respect and salute him.
http://www.al-islam.org/gallery/kids/Books/bilal/index.htm > Chapter one : Bilal the Great African Muslim.
One very important event in Hazrat-e-Bilals life that the author didnt mention in this chapter. People had problem with how he pronounce Azan and they complained Prophet s.a.w about him. Prophet s.a.w allowed them to bring there own moazzin and their moazin said adhan but Look at greatness of this GREAT sahabi … Sun refused to rise that morning until Prophet s.a.w called Hazrat Bilal and ordered him to say Adhan Again.
Asalamu ALikaa Ya Rasull-al-lah — waa ashabay rasull-al-lah.

Re: Your favorite Sahaba
Oh this is mean question...
I love all the Sahahba may Allah bless them all...
I have too many that I love and regard more dear than my own fammily....
I love Hazrat Ali sher e Khuda without him and his valiant defiance against opression and relentless love for Islam and it's founder that stopped at nothing.... even if it ment taking on Rustam or Abduwud.
I love Hazrat Obaidah who soaked up so many arrows he resembled a porcupine at Ohud....
I love Hazrat Bilal whenever I think of suffereing and pain i look to his valiant example...
I love Hazrat Abu Bakr's spirirt of relentless devotion to the cause...
I admire Hazrat Khaild bin Walid who was the undefeated and most excellent general of late antiquity....
I love Hazrat Kadijah mother of all Muslims for her dedication to the messenger of Allah....
I even find admiration for men like Ikramah bin Abi Jahil, who was a terrible pagan in his early days and yet achieved a hereoic martyrdom at Yarmuk.... which i'm sure he will stand greater than many on the day of judgement for...
And yet theres scores like Hazrat Ayub Ansari... Hazrat Salman Farsi... so many I cant do justice to them... We really need to tell of our forebears deeds.... I remmber my great Uncle telling me about all the exploits of our forebears and thier determination.... It don't matter what your field is theres plenty of encouragemnt and solace for you among the companions of RasoolAllah sallaho alyahi wassalam.
Re: Your favorite Sahaba
So I'm positive every Muslim respects and loves all Shabahs equally, ?
why ? is there any reason to do that ? e.g Bishr b AbiArtat a sahabi raided muslim territories and terrorized the populations enslaving them and slaughtering hundreds, a few sahaba are even amongst the khawarij.
however one sahabi alone my pic would be Hamza b Abdul Muttalib (RA) with his conversion the story totally changed its a watershed event and muslims gain new strength
his command is decisive in leading to victory in Badr, which is the breakthrough
and if I have to pick a tribe I would pick Ansar the aws and khazraj , without their support the success of muslims is impossible as aptly said by Abdullah b Abbas (RA)
Prophet PBUH said "loving ansar is eman and hating them is hypocrisy"
Re: Your favorite Sahaba
And the reason for asking this question is?
Was there any competition among those sahabas to entertain people or win some kind of contest to become favorite of
the people who would read about them?![]()

You left out three other sahabas who were khalifa, for some reason?
If you say all, then why name some individually?
This is the reason why this question by OP is still senseless.
Re: Your favorite Sahaba
^ please don't lose your sleep over it.. the reason i asked this question because every one has their own preferences. I wanted to learn about their distinctive characters since not all sahabs had the same behavior pattern or persuasion. That's my way of learning about each one of them. Either you participate in a positive way and let us learn from you or say your tata.

Yeah there was a reason I left out the other 3 Caliphs though I'll admit Abu Bakr was one I should have added at least... most of them if you've noticed are legendary pugilists and thus have a special place in my heart...
Though Lets not get too picky theres enough Sahabah for everyone to take example from...
Which Shahabah inspired you most Diwana Bhai?

Excellent mentions.
Hazrat Hamza was the best pugilist of his time... his acheivements were amazing. I love his character becuase if memory serves me correctly he battered Abu Jahil over an insult made to the Prophet, his natural reaction was just like every lover.

Well said... People forget that each Sahabi had his special character.

......
No one in particular Bhai sahab.:)
Reason is, there is no particular personal bias needed to like someone the most or get inspired by one or few.
