Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
But Shabnam Majeed is very talented singer. She did few numbers for Pakistani movies, but all became hit... Her rendering of Kalam e Iqbal ' La phir ek bar wohi' is my favourite :)
Fareeha is also good and can handle light and semi classical songs beautifully.
Shazia Manzoor is also versatile. Be it her 'Suno Suno' from Chief Sahib or 'Teri Aankhon ne loota hai mujhko' I like her voice and variation of songs that she can sing.
I agree with what you say but I like only limited work from them. Most of the time I don't like their voice quality.
Shabnam is better than Fariha but it seems like they both struggle to produce their voice and I don't like that.
I like Fariha's:
Raat Nasheeli, Baat bana le;
Nazrein mili haein, Dil bhi mila le;
Dharkan bana ke apni, Dil mein mujhe basaa le, chupa le.
from Chief Saab. Music had a big part in making that song nice.

How about Humera Channa?
No. Her voice is very shrill. Again only limited work from her, I like.
All the newer female Lolly singers after the generation of Nahid Akhtar, Runa Laila etc. are not very impressive.
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
No.
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
Sajjad Ali, Hadiqa Kiani, Amanat Ali, Shafqat Amanat Ali
I only like limited work of Hadiqa. Again the voice quality of Pakistani pop/filmi female singers is not very impressive.
The new age singers like QB and Zoe Viccaji are good.
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
Then you must have some favourites by Naseeb laal. :)
Some of Naeebo's work is good.
Her voice is fit for only certain type of songs that require high pitch.
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
I find Farida Khanam's voice very soothing.
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ghulam Ali
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
Lets see
Tina Sani
Sajjad Ali
Ahmed Rushdi
Mujeeb Alam
Alamgir

You didn't like Fariha's 'Kaise Jiye Mere Bin' from Ghoonghat?
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
PTV showed a good program recently called 'Singing Legends' that captured the works of all important Pakistani singers from the 40's to the 80's.

But Saira Naseem is quite talented I think... She did a wonderful job for Punjabi songs (Udd kothe aa tu kawan we' as well as Urdu songs.

I don't think I have heard this one. At least I can't recall it now.
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?

Yes I liked her 'Kuch Ishq tha Kuch majboori thi' a lot
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
High pitch and high stage ![]()
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
i heard Nahid Akhtar a few times in the past and i liked her voice...i think her style is similar to that of Asha Bhosle...am i correct?
Re: Your Favorite Pakistani Singer?
This one. Guess, who is the male singer?

Saira is good. I love her 'Shah-e-Madina' !
She has some good film songs to her credit.
Talking of Humeras, I also don't like Humera Arshad. Voice or personality. She sounds like such a laraaka aurat.

Yes thats true but I like Hadiqa's 'boohay baarian' and 'mannay di mauj'. She can sing very well if she stops experimenting with new styles. I'm not familiar with many new female singers. I absolutely loved Benjamin Sisters in Silver Jubilee. Their song 'mehki fizaaein' is my most favorite! So soothing....

I think Naheed had her own style.. Though she was as versatile as Asha Bhosle is.
