Your favorite Na't/kalaam/bhajan

I love Waris shah and kalaam-e-bahu plus have tons of favorite Na’ts. I’ve never thought about why I like na’t I guess its enough to know that its about the prophet. Waris shah and Bahu have great stuff with amazing simple messages. I recently bought a book and some CDs, maybe I should’ve posted a few examples as well. Lekin reason for posting this thread is a ‘bhajan’ from the movie Pinjar. Well I think its bhajan could be a simple song for all I know. Goes something like this:

Sat naam wahe guru
Awal Alleh Noor upaaya
Qudrat de sab bande

I can sing rest of it too but don’t really get the words. This sounds very much like ‘Alif Allah chambe di booti’, is it inspired? And if anyone knows it, whets the msg.

Do you guys have a favorite peace, a msg that you like?

sabah baji

sorry, maybe this is off topic

has someone hacked into ur a/c...umm a hindu maybe?

whats up with all this stuff in rel forum all of a sudden abt bhajans and hinduism n stuff?

r we trying to make rel forum a more 'multicultural' place or somfin?

:p

khayr, i like the mssg u posted. havent seen pinjar tho. my fav mssg is...hmm...i got far too many to start listing i guess...might be back later tho... :)

Irem do I sound like a Hindu to you?

:p

:hehe: nai :stuck_out_tongue: aur Allah na karay. lekin y all of a sudden posting stuff abt hinduism n bhajanz n rel n logic? dont tell me u guys r trying to now add cultural diversity and multireligiosity n the voice of logic n all that to the rel forum and liberalize it and change its flavor…? if u r, then plz count my vote bataur guppie awaam against it  thats all i wanted to say

Meri jaan, yooN tau deeper meaning koi nahiN thi, lekin liberalize ko bhi khoob kahi. Mujhe zara hazam nahiN ho raha ke hamare wanna be nabi of religion forum can insult another religion so openly and then put it all under the name of Islam, hence the Dawa thread. Logic is inspired by similar thread.

How come I've never seen you voice any concern against that idiocy but you're quick to notice that I'm posting stuf related to Hinduism? Aik aankh se dekhti ho kya? Very bad!

Khair back to my bhajan and kalaam.

Saba, I always liked this one.

Om Bhur Bhuva Suvah
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi
Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

Om -Om ,Bhur Bhuva Suvah- Three worlds-universe ,Tat- That, Savitur- Sun, Varenyam- Most excellent,Bhargo-Effulgence(radiance splendour),Devasya- Divine, Dheemahi- Meditate upon, Dhiyo- Buddhis, intellects, Yo-Who, Nah- Our, Prachodayat- Unfolds
Om Bhur Bhuva Suvah. We meditate upon the adorable effulgence of the divine sun ,may that unfold our intellects.

The one lettered word symbol (Om) called PRANAVA represents the supreme reality beyond the three worlds of the waking, dream and deep sleep.BHUR BHUVA SUVAH are called the VYAHRITIS. They represent the three worlds experienced by man. When man conceives this first he understands his relative insignificance in the vast universe. This part of the prayer is meant to humble him .He goes through the initial preparation necessary for his mind to lift itself to the realisation of the Supreme Self in him.

The prayer is directed to the Sun (Savitur). In Manusmriti it is said that the Gayatri Japa is to be chanted twice in a day at Sandhya time. There are two Sandhyas in a day - dawn and dusk. Sandhya literally means holding together(union ,junction). The meeting point of day and night i.e twilight in the morning and evening. At this time Gayatri Mantra is repeated -“We meditate upon the adorable effulgence of the divine sun, may that unfold our intellect”.

The Gayatri Mantra is said to be one of the oldest of the divine hymns. It is referred to as the mother of the Vedas. Gayatri has compelling charm of its own to millions of Hindu hearts. The repetition of this mantra with the right understanding of its sacred meaning is believed widely to have power to dispel all the negative tendencies in the human mind and thereby unfold the Supreme Self within. The graetness of Gayatri Mantra is that it has both the power of Mantra and the power of Prayer. The pure Mantra has an inherent effectiveness called Mantra-Shakti that is the power contained in inarticulate or intonational sound. It has philosophical meaning . When the power of prayer is combined with power of Mantra the seeker is fully equipped with the most effective instrument for the unfoldment of the spiritual potentialities. That is the uniqueness of the Gayatri Mantra.
Gayatri Mantra is given to the boy at his spiritual initiation called Upanayanam(Thread Ceremony). It is performed to Hindu boys at a early age betwwen 6 and 10 yrs. The father taking the boy on his lap,and covering himself and the boy with a white sheet, whispers into his ears ‘Gayatri Mantra’ ,the sacred prayer to sun. The boy is then considered Dwijah which means twice born. The first birth of the gross personality is when physical body emerges from the mother’s womb. The second birth now is that of the subtle body when mind and intellect are fully grown and ready to receive the knowledge of the Supreme Reality. The gayatri mantra is chanted generally minimum ten times during each Sandhya but one could chant more according to one’s personal capacity.

The invocation of the sun signifies the invocation of the Self, the Atman within. The Atman is the illuminator of all perceptions, emotions and thoughts just as the sun is the illuminator of all the planets around it of the solar system. The Gayatri Mantra is an appeal by the seeker to the divine sun within to emerge out of the cloud of desires and shine forth its resplendent light

These days this is one I am listening to.

From Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Wohi Khuda Hai” (Rightclick - Save As - Download)

koi to hai jo, nizame-e-hasti chala raha hai wohi khuda hai
dikhaiyeebhi jo na day nazar bhi jo araha hai wohi khuda hai wohi khuda hai wohi

nazar bhi rakhe samatey bhi
wo jaanleta hai niyate bhi
jo kahan e laa shahoor main jagmagara hai wohi khuda hai

talaash usko na kar bhuton main
who hai badalti hui rutoon main
jo din ko raat aur raat ko din banara hai

the following bhajan, and the asma al husna comes to mind along with some centuries old thyagaraja compositions which'd be wasted on this audience.

[quote]

Raghupati Raghav Rajaram
Patit Paavana Sitaram

Sitaram Jai Sitaram
Bhaj pyare tu Sitaram
Raghupati Raghav..........

Ishwar Allah Tere Naam
Sabko sanmati de Bhagwan
Raghupati Raghav........

Translation:
Ram, the Lord of heavens
Blessed is thy name
Victory to you Ram
the husband of Sita
Oh so lovable, joyous
it is to worship thee...

Some of us call you as Ishwar
and some others as Allah
but we beg you Lord
that you bless us all...

I get bored listening to naats, nasheedes and the like after a while.

Quran's the best, alhamdulillah.

Om Bhur Bhuva Suvah - I know these words from a movie. What’s the connection between sun and intelligence?

<<three worlds of the waking, dream and deep sleep<<

Could you please explain this again?

Nice post btw, I guess I have to read it one more time to fully understand it.

Queer, I’ve heard this bhajan like million times its in almost all hindi movies, never knew what it meant. Thanks for sharing.

Faisal bhai that a nice one, my bro’s favorite. A few weeks ago I was listening to this very simple one:

Maangti hooN tujh se bakhshish apne maaN aur baap ki

These days kalaam-e-bahu is my favorite.

Sadiyah, what is ‘nasheede’?

Sabah: the sun is equivalent to light, light brings clarity in thought, illuminating sources of knowledge thereby augmenting intelligence. A nurturer of human knowledge. The writer of the explanation also akins it to Soul or atman.

While I am no hindu scholar, I believe that "Wake, dream and deep sleep" symbolize a life of a human with respective conotations to birth, livelihood and death.
