Well i guess i’m just looking for your opinions. Who do you think is the best umpire in todays cricket.

I like:-

Steve Bucknor(WI)
Doug Cowie(NZ)

My worst one is Jayaprakash from India. anybody guess y?

Worst - BC Cooray and Jay Prakash (Also most of those unknown umpires whom home countries field)

Bucknor seems to get intimidated though he does seem like a real nice guy.

Umair Bhai, the question was related to Present Day umpires and not who either have retired or Dead. And Mike Dennese is not an Umpire but match Referee.

Overall IMO - DICKIE BIRD is the best Umpire world has seen.

About Darell Hair - He is one gutsy umpire who is not afraid of calling spade a spade. But he is not consistent when it comes to giving decisions (out)

I like Venkat first and formost. Buchnor i think was second but is making more mistakes lately.

Looking at this thread - I am surprised that Venkat the fav umpire of most of the guppies and now all at a sudden (within 7-8 months) people are saying he doesn't deserve his place ?? Any clues ?? ;)

my fav’ umpire is billy bowden, wow isn’t he unique and charismatic,

his traditional six signals and his signal for wides have been very entertaining to watch and he certainly is a unique addition to the international scene,

yeah watch the vidoes of recent Venkat matches and you will know the reason.

Billy bowden. Beside his entertaining signals he is a very good umpire.
Aleem Dar, this guy really has come leaps and bounds, preferred over seasoned umpires such as Dave orchard etc is an acheivement. :k:
