Re: Your dream wedding
Hmm. Is it weird that I don’t have a detailed image of my dream-wedding? I know I want to get married…it is a dream of mine…and I hope it’ll one day be a reality, but I don’t have an image of a dream wedding. I used to dream of wearing a certain tea-pink lehnga and a turquoise-red combo for my wedding. But my sister did a similar combo so now I’ll have to think of something else. ![]()
I just want simple elegance…nothing over-the-top. Considering my level of gracefulness and how I hate heavy garb that feels like a walking-hazard…I hope I can make it to and from the stage without tripping, lol. The funny thing is that I have a far more clearer idea of details like which people I don’t wanna invite and don’t wanna see…and where I’d like to position certain folks…than I do about dress, decor, dance and desserts. ![]()
Though I am married, I should tell you what my dream wedding would be like!
Jootay parwaanay hain kya?

Your dream wedding
My dream wedding (if I had my way which I didn't lol)--- a very small and intimate (50 ppl max!) nikkah ceremony only, in a garden/outdoor setup followed by a plated dinner...lots of laughter and mingling and dancing with loved ones...that's it! No rasms, no rivaaj, none of the theatrical nonsense that takes place these days. I hope I get to do this for one of my kids someday if their future spouses will agree!

Re: Your dream wedding
One wiht no in laws. :p
JK JK JK (lovely people, really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I'd love to have a much bigger one, with more friends and guests, more say in what I want and don't want, and more time to plan. My circle is much bigger now than it was when I actually got married and when I actually got married I had absolutely 0 say in anything.
I'd love to have the music of mine/hubbys' choice, since at my wedding, some stupid random guest complained and they played what the guest wanted.....we didn't get to hear ANY of the songs we'd picked, and the one I entered to was this ugly techno song which YES STILL makes me mad because a few months later someone in my in laws used the same exact song that I had wanted.

Hmm. I am truly astonished...baffled even...at why there are no takers.
I have a cool story to share. I have a friend whose father used to be Hindu but converted to Christianity after coming to the US. So she was raised as a Christian and then converted to Islam after marrying her Muslim boyfriend. Her dad was strict...really strict...and with a bad temper...the kind who would literally chase away any guy who dared to hover around his daughters with a machete. Someone ratted my friend out to her dad...and Alhumdolillah my friend found out that someone squealed on her before her father could make it home. So she acted quick. She got the hell out of her house. Went to go stay with her boyfriend who legitimized the situation by marrying her. They've stayed married since, MA. It's the only Muslim elopement story I know of where things turned out well. And she was only a teen at the time.
Re: Your dream wedding
I don’t care tbh. Didn’t care the first time, can’t imagine I would if I had to do it all over again - bas Dulha miyan wohi ho
baqi sab ki apni marzi, jo karna hai kar lo, meh.

If you find a girl willing to do it, go for it. It is a lot less stress and a lot more fun.
Re: Your dream wedding
My dream wedding would be without a single penny of debt, specially for banks. I'd like to set an example how well off young educated and moderate muslims can still break free of buredensome practices, and yet be able to do things elegantly. Starting a marriage debt free is what id hope for
Re: Your dream wedding
Why the hate on traditions? Some of the traditions in a typical desi wedding are fun. Like I'm not saying give the groom's family aik aik set should be done, but stuff like doodh pilai, or joota chupai, or like mehndi lagana on the bride and groom's kinda fun.
Re: Your dream wedding
Ameen. InshaAllah this will be the case for all of us.
