apart from what a lot of people have already said...
I would really question how strong my own faith is.... how much of a good muslim (practising muslim) I am for me to discourage it?
Marriage is tough regardless of whether you marry someone of your own faith or not... yes its even more challenging when the person you are marrying is of a different faith/race. But, hey... if you are upto it.. if you're strong willed enough, then why not.
If my son or daughter brought someone home of a different faith, I would probably have a chat to them about why they have chosen someone of a different faith and how important is a particular faith in their life.... If it doesnt play such a major role... then heck, what can i do? I will Inshallah still love them and support them. At the end of the day, if the person is a good human being and loves my child... then that's what matters.

Yeah that’s exactly what my reaction would be. I won’t be happy about it and will try my best to discuss it and maybe convince them otherwise:bummer:. I would definitely discourage them but if they still don’t listen, I’ll accept the situation and make peace with it.
Some people misunderstood my post. I never said non-Muslims are ill-mannered, rude people…far from it and most of my close friends are non-Muslims. But the fact of the matter is this particular criteria regarding faith does matter to us significantly and I have to admit I won’t be too happy inspite of the person being decent, well mannered and able to keep my child happy. I guess a lot also depends on how you raise your child since if they’ve been told this is not encouraged they probably won’t entertain it as an option to begin with.
