Your bridal make up

Just curious to know, what kind of make up did you opt for your weddings?

Traditional? Or more contempory? What did you wear, and how did your look go with your outfit?

Any tips on bridal make up? Do’s or don’ts?

Re: Your bridal make up

contemporary all the way to go with a contemporary outfit! :)

Re: Your bridal make up

It totally depends on what your wearing - I wore a traditional red lehnga and the makeup was done keeping tht aspect of my dress in mind. For the valima, I had a more relaxed look with dramatic eyes and shades of pink in the makeup palette to go with my mermaid lehnga :)

I dunno, i let the makeup artist handle it all. we booked her on really short notice, so I didnt have much choice/time to be picky. Both days, she used soft eye makeup and emphasis on the lips, but she did alot fo contouring.. which I actually did like.. so i liked all my makeup and she did a good job, and I think the makeup (soft/classic) went well with my outfits which were really heavy.

But I do wonder, had another artist done it, how it would've looked :D

DO: trust your makeup artist. she knows what she's doing (if i'm paying her Hundreds she damn well better!)

DO: remember to keep a matcing lip color for touchups. I know its so DAHHHH but I dont remember why, i didn't have any extra lipstick/even lipgloss to touch up during the wedding. And no one else did either. :(

Hi tigerlily,

I think traditional makeup, with a classic and contemporary twist, always looks great…

Do always have a bridal trial with your makeup artist first, before your big day, just to ensure that you are happy with her makeup style, as well as her personality, as you will be spending the last few hours of your single life with her
Also, ask lots of questions at the time of the trial, and do have a look at photos of the real brides that she has done, rather than models, as these will give a true indication of her work

All the best!
take care,
Chitra

Re: Your bridal make up

Traditional on the wedding. I really wanted heavy/ glittery eyemakeup to go with my blood red/gold lehnga which wasn't exactly a traditional outfit. But my MUA was very accomodating. I showed her exactly what I wanted and she really gave it to me.

Valima, the outfit was a pretty contemporary lehnga in beige n brown n gold tones. she did a gold/black/brown smoky eye thing. I was very happy both days.

Re: Your bridal make up

I believe both my outfit and makeup were contemporary. I am scared of lip color, and I regret that I choose such neutral lip shades. I really played it up with my eyes though.

I also chose to do airbrush makeup and I really liked the finish! My skin looked dewy and fresh.

Re: Your bridal make up

Just stay away from "pancake face"! There's a makeup artist called Nina Doshi who specializes in natural wedding makeup which sometimes photographs better. I personally likes modern the way MAC does makeup with tasteful amounts of color.

This is the kind of makeup I’m going for the baraat. I have like her jetblack hair, prominent eyebrows and fair complexion. So dark colour will look too harsh on me.

hi tigerlily

Re: Your bridal make up

dark or light, i think it all depends on your face and how the makeup is done. i have seen some of the fairest brides wearing dark shades and looking gorgeous, yet some look absolutely horrible. same thing with a wheatish complexion as well.. some of them can pull any kind of shade if the makeup is done right. i dont believe in restrictions alot of people have based on complexions.

I based my make up choice after my complexion, my features and my preference.

Re: Your bridal make up

i think you are supposed to do the makeup according to your complexion, facial features, and the color of your dress....
if you wont take these crucial characteristics into considerations..it WILL show in the pictures that you ignored them...

oh since i did my own makeup...it didnt come out that fancy shmancy.. :)
but didnt look horrible either..

I had the exact same type of makeup for my engagement. Go for it, it looks so natural yet gorgeous.

Re: Your bridal make up

^ I personally think the above makeup is too subtle and light for a baraat type occassion. Your face will look dull in the pictures, esp with all the jewellry and the heavy dress that you will be wearing. Also, in your pictures you will look just washed out... The above kinda makeup (sonam's) is good for perhaps an engagement or evening gatherings..
