Your Brains are needed

I’ve just upgraded or downgraded whichever term can be used to DSL.

Which means a new modem, SS 4200

All is good, the speed is awesome blah blah blah blah.
I have a weird plan where I get 20GB during the day plus an additonal 40GB if i restrict my downloades after midnight.

Awesome and all but My Azureus doesnt work
Forget Azue, none of the Bitt Clients work
Tried UTorrent too.

Comes up with NAT error.

The setup is the DSL modem is plugged into Netgear Wireless with the Desktop hardwired into Netgear and all other computers on wireless.

All computers are getting NAT errors with ports being blocked.

I’ve checked by disabling Zone Alarm still the same.

Previously with my old modem, i used to have yellow smilies and I had to set up port forwarding in the Netgear settings which gave me green smilies.

I havent changed that setting at all so it couldnt be Netgear.

Its gotta be the DSL modem

Im not that good with DSL modems when it comes to such things.
There is a port forwarding option in the interface’s settings but Im not touching it in fear of messing everything up.

So help!!

Im assuming the problem is because both the DSL modem and Netgear are routers they are messing up with each other.
But thats my assumption.

PS. Limewire works like a charm.

Re: Your Brains are needed

Looks like ur ISP is blocking the torrent traffic.

Re: Your Brains are needed

No, i've asked around, other ppl with the same ISP are using Bitt like a charm.

Tomorrow im going to bypass the router and plug one of the pcs straight into the DSL modem and see what happens

tonite im too exhausted.

Re: Your Brains are needed

optusnet ?

yes bypass the netgear router and plug ethernet cable directly into the modem

if it doesnt work then you prolly need to to forward bittorrent ports

and try this link

Re: Your Brains are needed

The WLAN changed.. Perhaps u'd have to reconfigure the Services part in port forwarding on your Netgear..

Re: Your Brains are needed

5abi yeah Its Optus and i've scrolled through our local/national ISP forums for ppl using the isp and they are running Bitt Clients like a Charm.

So i duno why mine doesnt work, im pretty sure its not Netgear.

I'll try the direct link and see what happens :(

PB elaborate please

Re: Your Brains are needed

that siemens router has port forwarding option, enable the bittorrent ports. also i think you should reset the netgear router and start with factory settings and configure as needed

Re: Your Brains are needed

What happened to unlimited DSL or better yet uncapped cable model internet access?!

Any company restricting you with bandwith or usage should be booted out of your mind immed.

Re: Your Brains are needed

Can you please give me the name and the model number of the modem? :)

NAT is just port forwarding case... But I just want to check how to do it at your specific modem :)
