well there are rumors that some people in the team did'nt want to see younis become captain..let me guess..afridi may be one of them cause he got into a scuffle with him in west indies and inzamam would be the other who according to reports was still calling the shots eventhough younis was the captain.so much for the so called unity in the team.

^afridi is a pretty selfish guy,he is actually a good friend of one my ex-friend and used to come to my friends house to play cricket when he was a kid.he is definitely big headed and does not always give 100% for the team thats why you see him throw his wicket away so many times.captains in the past had to put up with his arrogance and attitude ..may be younis khan does not want to deal with players like afridi and others in the team who wont listen to him.

i was just reading somewhere that its actually razzaq,afridi and akhtar who don't want to see younis become captain because they think they are more senior than younis khan.lol if thats true than what a bunch of a holes these guys are ...younis khan will make a far better leader than these 3.as for being senior did shaun pollock complain when a 22 year old graem smith was made captain in his place?no.why does something like that happens only in pakistan cricket team.?lol

Woolmer wants attitude change

LAHORE:** Pakistan’s cricketers must change their attitude to succeed, coach Bob Woolmer said** on Friday after Younis Khan’s “sad” refusal to captain the side.

With the dust barely settled from captain Inzamam-ul-Haq’s ban for bringing the game into disrepute, stand-in skipper Younis caused further chaos on Thursday when he said he did not want to be a “dummy captain”.

“Younis’s decision to turn down the captaincy shows a lack of attitude and we need to change this attitude if we want to be world-beaters,” Woolmer said. “I fought for him (Younis) in the team and helped him fight for his place against all odds, but his decision left me sad and disappointed. It seemed he could not take the pressure of captaincy.”

Woolmer said he was now looking to the future. “I am a firm believer that things happen for the good but we must learn quickly because the people of Pakistan have high expectations of this team and the World Cup is getting nearer,” said Woolmer.

Pakistan must also mature or else they will face tough times in the post-Inzamam era, Woolmer said.

“Pakistan must learn to live without Inzamam, who has been the binding force in recent years. Inzamam will not always be there, so others will have to show maturity,” said Woolmer, who took over as coach in July 2004.

Bigger than Pakistan Cricket? What about the lessons taught in the subject of morals and ethics? Does Younis not follow a standard code of ethics himself? One could argue very well that he has a pre-defined set of rules that as an individual, he tends to follow it rather than play a muppet in the hands of PCB officials. If Inzamam has started his charade of nasty politics in the team, and considering if the speculations are indeed true, what Younis Khan did was absolutely right. Any man living in this world, whether that be a janitor washing the stairs of a government building or a CEO of a company driving Lexus - there are a set of principles, a blue book on conscience, an outline of values and logical ethics, paraphrases on rules and morals that everyone tends to lean towards, follow, lead others and make examples. Not to say that all janitors outright display such items on the public shelf, but the ones that do follow it - why should they be fed with the short end of a stick?

Sympathy of whom? The guy has my sympathy, provided he chose his reasons logically. If otherwise, I would rather he play for Yorkshire his entire life and never come back. You are absolutely right on the decline of the subject of ethics in Pakistan community. Going back to the previously mentioned logic, if a janitor has a high class in moral values, a sense of well-being and continuity coupled with an ethical code of conduct as compared to a CEO of a company - why should the former be forced to get the short end of a stick? Why? Why should that person be deemed as any ‘less’ of a human being than someone who drives a Lexus and treats everyone as second-class citizens?

With all due respect, I simply refuse to believe the above tall claims that Dawn has conveniently found enough time to publish. Even if their sordid and morally degraded foulpiece is true in the first place, I very highly doubt Younis - A man of his caliber, integrity and ethics - walked away in the manner as outlined. There are literally dozens of speculations on the horizon, any and all of them could come out to be true; none to be expected of this extreme measure.

If Younis Khan of all people has chosen to stay quiet on this dramatic incident, how come Dawn got up and gathered the courage to print this article in their paper? This is what I would want to know!

Moreso, I am patiently waiting for Waheed Khan to join in on the weekly festivities.

*Reason logically Dhobi bhai how can you say he reasoned logically, he blew up in the press confrence like a “shab-e- barat ka pathaka!!!” and shattered image of Pakistan. As far as ethics goes, yes Pakistan in general is guilty as charged, but everyone has it one share or it. Under what decency/ethics does Younis outburst is just? Mind you in that press confrence he was representing Pakistan, he should have kept his grudge or untold reason aside or backed up his decision with logical reasoning. ( I am anxiously waiting for him to give a viable reason, and lets “hope” its not what Dawn reported). *

Like you, I believe that Waheed Khan’s article always have 2 sounds and he is Pakistani Arun L:)l and that report is not by Waheed Khan so I think it has more weight, but I shall wait patiently for younis explaination for his actions.
