What we have seen lately is that this man has started playing big, valuable innings rather then those 30’s n 40’s only. He played a big knock 2 win it for pak vs zimbabwe. Now he does it again with a stylish and patient century.
Alot of people have bashed him in the past, n gupshup members have been relentless. As u can probably check, i generally thought he was a useful odi batsman who was just out sync. I alwayz thought he handled pressure well. BUT i also did cut him alot of slack when he was in that massive slump of form and was dropped rightly.
Anwayz he’s back now, and i know dropping kamal was not a gd decision, younis has secured his place. We shd however not get too excited. But just hope that he can continue to play sensible. We dont need heroics from him all the time. All he needs to do is bat sensibly like he did today, but also play his natural game without takin risks. Lets hope he can do that!
i've always liked the way he plays u know in today's play he had a huge hand he kept on rotating the strike which is definetly a good thing and not every1 can do it but he was doing it regularly plus he should b in the tests bcz he more like a test player than ODI
ak power and jatt_pathan, you two arent alone. Here is what i wrote on the page 11 of the Pak V SL test match thread. At that time Younis Khan was batting in 20s.

**whatever u folks say, i have always been a fan of Younis Khan and will always back him up.
Everytime he turns up he gives his 100%. And eventhough skills wise he is limited, he is a stylish player who is brave at heart.
Go younis!
Hum tumharay saath hein!!

thats the problem with our nation...we get carried away too soon by our sentiments...its his first big innings in i dont know AGES...and we have started treating him as GOD.....give him some time....btw, remember what happened to the indian GOD????
I am still not impressed. Tons against Zimbz and SRL at home ground is not something to be very excited about. I will wait to see him in Aussies series.

What would it take to impress you, triple century against Aus. in Melbourne?
he is one of the biggest reasons why Pak. won this game and did not loose the series. And he has played MANY knocks like this one, he can only perform if we give him a chance. It just so happens that the only chances he is getting right now are against these teams. Srilankan attack was not an easy one, not by any stretch of imagination! BTW I remember earlier this year he played well against SA when the rest of the lineup went up in smoke, as usual!
I feel that we need to get educated on how the cricket is played at this level. Not every player needs to be a run scoring machine or a quick-fire slugger. These are not a tape-ball games!

Are you for real? What about scoring miraculous 14?? wickets are falling, and he looses his wicket as well, whats the difference? a big ZILCH.
hey skipie, its cricket! you cant perform in every innings. Youhana fell for 1, Farhat for 19, Yassir 15.
Point is, you gotta comeup with the goods atleast once in 2 innings. Try and play a 5 day game, and you'll know what it takes to stay on the pitch. you are just not getting it!
trooper, remember when Pakistan collapsed in recent past? every Younis Khan lover shouted that had Younis Khan been in the team this wouldn't have happened???? and I tried to explain the exactly what you said above that even if Younis was there, it wouldn't guarantee that collapse would come to halt, he has been part of many collapses too just like today, so he is not a guaranteed wicket blocker. He has his days too and therefore score some decent knock. Why was he out of team in first place? because he is not consistent too. I thought Bob wouldn't be dumb-a$$ and not go back to tired-tried horses, but I don't see much difference here atleast.

OK so according to your theory, Farhat and Imran Nazir are also good players as they will click in one of the innings. Despite of their impatience nature and poor selections of shots.
The following lot should be kicked out forever and for good.
Younis Khan
Imran Farhat
Imran Nazir
Saleem Elahi
Mohammed Hafeez

Bazid Khan

Problem is you are so high on Taufeeq Umar that you have forgotten countless oppurtunities he got and succumbed playing atrociuos strokes. I am a Taufeeq Umar fan and I think he is our best test match opener but I would also like to give credit where its due. Imran Farhat performed well in this series and so did Younis Khan in this match. Rest three you mentioned are out anyway.

Captain bhai, In his defence Younis khan fell to an incredible catch, probably the catch of the series. I am just happy that our bench players put their hands up and got themselves noted for their gritty display.

well, tell you the truth every single player which makes it to this level is extraordinary and outstanding and needs to be valued and appreciated. So, I just do not have the credentials to badmouth any single one of them.
Having said that, we also know each of them have their strengths. What we need to see is which strengths are we lacking as a team, then pick the players that have that strength. Right now, we need someone who can provide stability to the middle order. Out of the players you mentioned, younis khan is the only one who has proved him self and earned this spot. Others might be more stylish and flashy but team just needs someone who can hold one end. Another player that comes to mind is Hassan Raza, but we can not pick him above Younis khan, since the later is much more experienced.
Of course, cricket is still a game and you wont watch it if there was not that element of chance, so even the best batsmen could be bowled for a duck on the first ball.
Saleem Elahi needs to be picked since he is the best opener we have, and has played some good knocks again Aus. and SA

Its true that he fell to a very good catch, but I blv Younis is mostly a ground stroke player, why play uppishly when there is no need to score 4+ an over? Anyway, this could go on and on till the cows come home :D
Saleem Elahi's not coming back any time soon.
Yunis is useful mostly because he can score overseas unlike most of our batsmen., granted his average is'nt great.
His true usefulness will be if he can keep wicket in ODI's. Thats our most pressing need right now.
^^ thats rite .. as much as people have bashed younis, bottomline is he is more useful then the hameeds, farhats n umars. he is more spirited n courageous then most other batters in our lineup. i'm not saying that one younis has changed everything, but i wanna see where all those people r now who were hitting out at younis.
How right I have been about Yusless Khan I have never liked him a pint from the begining of his career. A rarely 30-40 player acting as gum-chewing Vivian Richard or something. @$$hole
I take responsiblity for backing up Taufeeq. The guy has lost his confidence that he displayed in SA and during WC03. Mitti paao dono par!
