captains should encourage they young player rather then yelling and shouting
yeah it was kind of mean, but AFridi was quick to step in and rub Amer on the head.
its nothing compared to what Imran used to do to Wasim/Waqar or Wasim used to do to Yusuf/Saqlain/Shoab & everyone. Maindad once yelled at Inzi so much he started crying.
its the hierarchical format of authority seeping in from our culture I guess.
but Im sure they are laughing together & partying now :)
Afrdi was the difference in both teams either batting or bowling, had he not stepped up the scoring, he could have made 120 odd runs… Only him and Akmal scored runs much faster…
Both of Afiridis wickets were the turning point. Gibbs and De Villiers both are dangerous players.. however Afridi got them out cheaply…
Also Afridi was encouraging Ammer from the 1st over till last.. he ran towards him after like every delivery…
I think it might have been because he/Gul wanted to change ends. If you remember Gul was a little wayward in his first over. That is the only reason I can think of.
He needed someone to bowl the over. I think he stuck with the spin options because he was afraid SA would find a fast bowler (razzaq or aamer) easier to cart around. So it was a tossup between fawad alam and shoaib malik
To be fair it is quite possible (or likely) that shoaib malik could have also been hit out of the park, esp since fawad had the advantage of being new to the SA players. On another day it could have been seen as a masterstroke.
We expect better from Younus in the next match.
Misbah deserves more batting time..He should be the architect of the innings as opposed to Malik or Younus himself.
And for God's sake Gul should bowl 4 overs and the last one as well.
Hota hay chalta hay, remember we have lost Ghulam Ali who made 2 runs in a match when whole team made a world record of 43 runs against Simmons-indies and lost b badly, and hence lost a tallented opener Ghulam Ali, so please don’t want to lose another talent.
Not giving Gul his full quota of 4 overs did not make much sense to me
Was it a miscalculation on Younis's part?
And Gul not Aamer should have bowed the last over. Why put so much pressure on young Aamer
Am I missing something here?
But atleast Younis realises now that Fawad should not bowl even one over in the final. He maybe talented but he has not bowled much lately and looks rusty.
When you have 6 other bowlers at your disposal (Gul, Aamer, Ajmel, Afridi, Razzaq and Malik) why risk even one over from Fawad?
I think little differently, 29 was alot i knew if gul bowls now he wont go for more than 10 and Aamir is good enought to save 20 in last over ..... It was matter of putting more pressure early on, Aamir might have gone for 10-15 in second last and saving 14 isnt easy for anyone in last over.
I was really happy with letting gul bowl 19th. But i was disappointed that he only bowled 3 overs.
