MOHALI, India, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Vice-captain Younis Khan dedicated his match-winning 117 in the second one-dayer against India on Thursday to Pakistan’s late coach Bob Woolmer.
Younis anchored the innings as Pakistan recorded their highest successful one-day run chase to win with a ball to spare and level the five-match series 1-1.
His third one-day hundred lifted the visitors to 322 for six after India totalled 321 for nine.
“The situation required such a knock,” Younis told reporters. "Today I tried hard and it worked and I can say it is special.
“I would like to dedicate this innings to Bob Woolmer, especially the way he used to work with me.”
Thank God he performed today. Otherwise his overall One-day record isn't all that great by today's standards. 158 matches with an average of 32 and average of 74. Hopefully, he will keep performing like he did today.
Younus is a great player but lacking of support at times from the own team. Younus and Yousef both should never play for a partnership. Everyone of em needs a quick scorer on the other side.
Grreat job :k:
Younis is my favorite Pak player - seems like an allround decent guy (reminds me of Dravid). Also think he is ideal captaincy material. Which is why his refusal of the captaincy was so baffling. Hopefully for Pak's sake, he will be offered this again, and this time accept.
There's every chance of Younis Khan being offered the captaincy (again) some time next year, most likely after the away Australia series (If we are honest we pretty much know the result beforehand....tub tak shayad Malik khud hee chor dey esp. if we lose badly in Australia). Malik got the job by default and to be honest he has n't looked captain material so far. His body language on the field is not that of a captain who is there to win. Younis on the other hand is a great motivator of players and inspires the team with his aggression and innovations. He is a sharp thinker and seems to have a plan for all the batsmen. That said I would reserve my final judgement on Malik's captaincy until after the test series against India.
