Younis backing Pakistan revival

Pakistan vice-captain Younis Khan is confident they will quickly put their home 4-1 one-day series defeat by India behind them**.**

He believes they can still do well at next year’s World Cup and will look to bounce back on their upcoming tour to Sri Lanka.
“We need just one good match to get back our confidence,” said Younis.

“The team can’t turn bad overnight but, yes, we need to look at the reasons for losing four games in a row.”
The absence of strike bowler Shoaib Akhtar because of an ankle injury was a big blow to Pakistan.

**"His injury did allow the Indians some breathing space. No matter what they say, we know they were not comfortable facing Shoaib. **

**“He didn’t take too many wickets (in the Tests) but the pressure created by him allowed the other bowlers to break through.” **
The series defeat meant Pakistan slipped below India to fifth in the ICC’s one-day rankings.

But Younis believes they can still do well in next year’s World Cup in the West Indies providing they regain their best form. “If there was any complacency developing in the team, or if the players had relaxed after a good run in the last year, then they should know now we need to work much harder to target the World Cup,” he added.

Re: Younis backing Pakistan revival

Well if that is the revival then I would say they are relying too much on Shoaib Akther, and M. Asif didnt bowl bad at all, he created pressure from one end, even being a newbie in the team, he bowled professionally but from the other end the flood gates were open. perhaps this loss of series will do some cleansing (mind wali, not axing players) and serve as a wake-up call for them.
