Lol, it’s not hard to figure out the reasons why Desi parents prefer the younger girl. It’s because they fear that she’ll look older than him at a later point, or because she might be dominating because of her older age, and issues with fertility. Or even as simple as they don’t like her and need some reason or the other to disapprove. I know this aunti who disapproved of a girl saying that she was “too old” for him…and she was only a few days older than her son, not even a month. Aunt and her daughters said that the girl was more like a baji. Her son ended up marrying a girl 3 years older than him. Lmao. Talk about about poetic justice…sort of.

It becomes a lot harder to concieve after that age and chances of babies born with autism and down syndrome increase. That said I know women in their 40s that have had healthy babies but it’s a gamble.

I disagree. Back in the days there was this trend of having large families & ladies reproduced their youngest childs when they were in their 40’s & they had like 6-7 kids araam se, all healthy & perfectly fine. As freshBakedPi said its seriously exaggerated. And babies born with autism has more to do with the diet we have & the type of chit we are consuming these days in my opinion. Not everything has to do with older women & their fertility.

There are arguments whether she was a virgin or widowed (common Sunni opinion) at the time of marriage. She bore many children (four) with him at a time when womens’ average lifespan used to be in the 40s. The marriage lasted for 25 years. In all likely hood she was much younger than her reported age.
Listen ladies, your fertility does fall sharply after age of 35, and it is only 50% of what it was by age 40. Majority of referrals I make for infertility are women above 30 years of age.
Age IS the single most factor affecting your fertility and your chances of having a baby.
I dont see the issue if both parties are sincere. I dont think you would see such a set up in an arranged process though.
