Uh, quite contrary to what some of you might be thinking, that whole POINT should have been obvious. To avoid tainting the discussion, I avoided making it evident at the beginning. Contrary to popular belief, MOST of my posts are not about my personal life, but sociological interests I have in gender differences in our community.

I do agree with PGC to an extent that well as a woman we should educate ourselves and become independant, rather than thinking marriage is the be all and end all. The thing is there are certain women who are too poor to be educated and they suffer from hard lives so their freedom is actually marriage, they may well want to get further education but their parents may not encourage it so unless we know the background we can't comment. However I would always encourage my female cousins in Pakistan to not think about marriage untill they have a solid education behind them and some sort of skill in which they can earn and support themselves.
If I put myself in their shoes I would rather be an independant educated married woman than an uneducated dependant on husband married woman. My whole marriage would be totally different and I for one would not like that life.
I would not judge a girl whose married young and has kids (well not anymore), BUT a girl who starts having children in her teens, with different fathers, living off welfare...is far far far worse IMO.
Completely agree. This example is seen everywhere in the 'developed' western society where girls are having babies one after the other and the government is paying their bills using the taxpayers (i.e. our) money. These women couldn't care less, have no positive contribution to the society and entertain themselves smoking pot, downing gallons of beer and being involved in random one night stands. Take all their priveleges away and you're left with lifeless people who couldn't work to survive. I would much rather prefer a situation in which a young girl's needs are cared for by the husband, and although this setup may not be positively contributing to the society, it is less of a burden to it.
When you go to a dawat, and you see the 19 year old girl with a baby in her arms (she is married), having done zero education after high school, not really caring about politics, or public affairs, or having any interest other than beating a dhol at a mehndi...
What do you think?

Then I would sit there and judge her and hate her because her idea of a fulfilling life is different from mine.
