Young Generals and today's lazy youth

Muhammad Bin Qasim conquered Sindh at the age of 17.

Babar left his homeland and had to fight for his state in his teens.

Alexandra also started conquering countries in his teens.

Akbar, the great, also started ruling a country like India in his teens.

Whats with today’s generation? They just wander here and there?

Were old people more active in pursuing their aim of life?

Re: Young Generals and today’s lazy youth

ps and xbox are enough piece of entertainment, where they have conquered whole world millions time. :snooty:

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

What do you mean? Computer games are equal to hardship old generation faced?

Re: Young Generals and today’s lazy youth

:hehe: in old times, kids were more interested in street environment on the other hand today our youth is busy in cell phones/Internet/game.

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

lazy people. so thats the reason people could accomplish a lot at early age in old days.

One of my friend doing ACCA. I said to him.. Muhammad Bin Qasim ne 17 saal ki umr main Sindh fatah kar lia tha.. aur tum ACCA ke Somnath pe 17 hamle karne ke ba wajood qualified nahi hue?

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

no, that is one reason. second point is that they were born in the families of kings and war was not fought by him, but all his wazeer were also with him. It was team effort.

p.s. I am not sure if my words are authentic. I have no proof to prove my statement. I am sharing my thoughts.

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

But what do children of rulers accomplish at young ages now? Talk about Pakistani politician's children.

Re: Young Generals and today’s lazy youth

They lived in a war culture back then and it was the norm to train children to fight from an early age. In the medieval era, when a boy turned 8 years old, he was sent to a castle to be trained as a page. He’d spend hours learning to fight, to use weapons, strengthen his body, ride horses etc. At the age of 15, he became a squire (a knight’s assistant) who could then become a knight after proving his worth. So becoming a young warrior was the norm back then.

Ab ammi kehti hain doctor bano nahin tau tangein tor dun gi :naak: So lazy mat kaho, now we spend years buried under books in our little castles, that’s a lot of hard work!

Re: Young Generals and today’s lazy youth

So basically its a shift from physical hardship to mental hardship.

You are right, we can’t imagine a young tabeeb in old days

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

Yup. Most of the knights/warriors got enough education to be able to read and write but I doubt any of them were really knowledgeable about things other than fighting.

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

if we see at Akbar's life, he was not able to read and right, but the way he administered a country like Hindustan is exemplary. Alexander was student of Aristotle and was his favorite.

Young Generals and today's lazy youth

I think ppl back then used to study they used to travel far away in search of knowledge,Muslims scientists back then has done huge discoveries, riding horses, arrows, sword skills n fighting were taught as additional skills to survive..

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

so you think people in those times were more active than us today?

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

I heard Akbar was extremely intolerant towards other religions in his early years but became much more tolerant and respectful as he matured. So he wasn't always a very responsible governor, he was a kid afterall, but he blossomed with experience and under the constant guidance of his wazeers. Also, he was known as a military genius, meaning he was an exceptional young lad... not all of youth back then would have been as capable as him or Alexander etc. But in general, absolutely the previous generations were much more responsible and hard working.

Re: Young Generals and today’s lazy youth

certainly they were, not only men but females also used to do hardships in day to day life as there were no facilities like we hv now,and ppl living in villages still hv that life style…only urbanites like us are lazy, our kids are busy sitting infront of screens.:chai:

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

They were exceptions not the norm. And as far as starting out early is concerned, the army recruits soldiers pretty young(17,18), the kids working at workshops, chotas at restaurants and many other examples.

Spending ones youth studying and preparing for a career is a luxury very few people have, even today. And as far as having young politicians goes, the humankind has learnt the lesson that age brings wisdom and young people can't be trusted to lead. The modern laws make sure that young people are not given charge of other people's lives just because they're related to someone important.

Then again, we do have Bilawal, the young chairman of PPP.

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

Re: Young Generals and today's lazy youth

Today's society requires people to have a track record of success before being given responsibility.

Muhammad Bin Qasim got responsibility simply by being related to the right people.
Alexander the great was related the right person (he was the son of the King).
Akbar was related to the right person - son of the previous King.

The only problem with today's youth is that society requires you to prove yourself able to handle responsibility, rather than simply inheriting it.
