Youhana is showing ample captaincy credentials in his second test as captain. He got the maximum out of the limited attack he has at his disposal and that too against a mighty lineup. It was really good to see Youhana trying to make things happen rather than waiting for them to happen. I dont recall him ‘unleashing’ Razzaq on a new batsman like Inzi does and thus making sure that Sami or Shoaib are continuously bowling against the new comer. Field placings were spot on apart from one or two occassions when he could have had short leg for Langer and Martyn but the pleasing thing was that he was trying to be proactive rather than reactive. Inzi shuold learn a thing or two from him.
Thumbs up for him so far and I really hope that Pakistan equal the series under his captaincy in this match.
Youhana is already proving to be a much better captain than Inzamam. Whether we win or lose this match...one thing is for sure...Youhana may not be a great captain...but he is definetly better than Inzamam...and if we keep Youhana as captain...he can only get better.
I agree and add that Inzi should learn some ‘ethics and manners’ to always talk to his players/bowlers ‘eye-t-eye’ rather than sideways as if trying to ignore an issue or an advice.
I agree. He is using 'BOYS' much better than Inzi. I watched the second day game and I noticed that he was communicating with the bowlers and fielder almost in every over. I also noticed how well he trapped Lehmann with his aggressive fielding. At the start of the over he had a chat with Shoaib and they brought Yasir on that position where he caught Lehmann after couple of deliveries. Its good to see that he is showing smartness and using tactics to surprise the batsmen. He continued pressure on them with the limitted resource he had and the output is quiet impressive provided the fact that we are facing the best team in the world who just crushed our side in last match.
Before I had an impression that he would be another lazy bum like Inzi. But he is showing improvements. After all he has played under some sharp captains like Wasim, Waqar, Moin and the master of tactics Miandad as coach. He has learned for them, I wish he continue with his learning process, as our current captain is uncapable of it. Once Inzi retires, Yoyo can be the strongest contender for the captaincy. I am glad that it won't go to a non-serious actor oooops player like Akhtar.
But I also like Yoyo to push Inzi as vice-captain for such tactics on the field, regardless he likes it or not.

You forgot to mention Rashid Latif. Youhana admitted after SA test win last year that playing under Rashid Latif helped him in this test match. and yes, Rashid was a smart captain indeed while Waqar was not that sharp but inspirational.

I agree with most of what you have written and especially this line. I have never seen him taking initiative or talking to Inzi on the field. Moin is always voicing his opinion and so should yoyo..whether Inzi likes it or not.
I haven't seen him in action but if he is doing smart bowling changes and his field placing is attacking then it is a positive sign for Pakistan. Pakistan's only chance to win this match is to bowl Australia out twice...and you can't do that with Akhtar only.
So far what I have liked about Yoyo is his comments in the media..He has handled some tough questions very diplomatically..buring of effigies being one of 'em. Anyway, he will have to earn respect and credibility before I go gaga over him. It is too early to compare him to Inzi. or the great masterminds like Khan and Miandad.
