A stone drops
falling through
air, space, fluid
The point is marked – but
for an instant – by
ripples forming waves
growing deeper, growing wider
moving further and further away
lost to watching eyes
crashing on some unseen shore
lost to the distance
The waves melt away into the calmness of the pool
silent, serene, calm
leaving no witness but
the silent stillness
no trace of that which existed – but
for an instant – all
that remains
is a stone
lying deep within me
