How do you react when people give you compliments ? ( I dont necessarily mean compliments about only looks, could be anything else too. I was just being creative with the title.:o )

there's a tact to taking compliments gracefully which i completely lack :D

I've never made an effort with myself (like dressing well) so I don't get people saying I look gorgeous or whatever, my husband tells me a lot that I'm pretty and beautiful and stuff. I get bewildered, I mean that's not what I see in the mirror. But it's sweet he sees me that way and it makes me happy so... :)
As for other compliments, yeah I get really quiet and just say thanks and compliment them on something in return. After that, I act very differently with the person, like I'm extra good to them. It's not fake, though. Haha I'm so easy to please.

I am terrible at receiving compliments :( I always brush them off and think people are being fake and just "nice" to me.
It is horrible cuz I don't even believe my own mum :(

Well I think Rukhsar that your mum is somebody who probably means them from the bottom of her heart. I think you should try to remember that and give yourself some credit.

Yeah if somebody compliments me, I feel as if they deserve one back. But I dont do it just for that reason, I will only compliment when they deserve it. But I think some people almost seem to expect a compliment back.

Depends on whether i think i look good. If i do, it's a grin with a cheers. And if i feel like a hag i'll raise an eyebrow and say ' you what??'. At one time i believed i was the ugliest girl in the world, well i probably am. But over recent years lots of my friends tell me im quite pretty so i saw myself in a different light. Not an ego or anything i'm still average but i don't know ....i don't feel as ugly anymore. I probably sound bigheaded lol seriously not meaning to

DD I you can write the words "Im gorgeous" on your forehead and you still wont sound 'big headed'. :p
For the thread I meant other compliments too. Whether they are about intelligence or personality etc.

Thats what I think. I dont say it. Its not so much the fact that I dont “believe” it, its that I dont know what to do with it. Yeah Im not so humble when it comes to what I think about myself -the positive aspects that is.

If its a girl, i say "yer i know"
if its a guy " ok and what else is new?"
if its aunty (in my case, its only the aunties who compliment me, apparently, they'v never seen an unmarried housewife before) i say " how old is he?"
personally, i never believe anyone who compliments me, i think they just want me to say.."no love, your the pretty/clever one. :o its reverse psychology, they want me to believe that they love me, when really they love themselves. :p
