Jar is vacuum sealed. If a jar hasn't been opened, then pushing on it's top doesn't do anything. As soon as you open the top by twisting it, a pop sound is produced, and a small portion of the cover pops up slightly. If you press on this again, it produces a pop sound again. This implies that the jar has been previously opened.
