Why do Asians think that modernity = being vulgar? Modernity means moving forward, making progress in the society while these high society wallahs think it's all about drinking and acting 100 % opposite your culture, roots and history
No u misunderstood, im saying that sarwat & co's version of modernity is vulgar. Of course progression is desperately needed in pakistan, its only way forward but we must still uphold key values such as not getting drunk on tv just to impress nat geo guy!

Krazi, sorry - I agree with you totally! That's what I meant to say - her version is vulgar. It's just that when I meet these high society wallah's (from Pakistan and India) they think that being modern is all about drinking your brains out, making out in the closet and poking fun of any once speaking urdu instead of English. Or making fun of those that wear shalwar kamiz......people down there think that progression means talking in broken English or bragging about how many brands of whisky you know. C'mon! And if there is a gora in the mehfil they'll kill themselves to get his/her attention so they can say: "look, we are modern, we drink all the time! We are verrryyyy modern! "

All I'm trying to say is that whoever person I've met that claimed to be "modern" were the most emptiest persons. There is no substance at all!
these high society wallahs are just plain stupid and actually a laughing stock for Westerners
