Just heard it on NPR on my way to work. So now a Secondary High School (I believe it’s grade 10) student may use upto five expletives of his or her choice during a lesson without any punishment. The teacher will keep a tally on the board and only the sixt curse word will get the student expelled from that lesson.
The schools admins are saying this is the reality. The parents of the students have some of their own expletives for this new policy.
Re: You can say eff you in Britain's Secondary School System
thats because of this "we care" and namby pamy attitudes we have now...if this happened in my school I'd rip their heads off!
I was at a school meeting once and a teacher told us she needed us to authorise a change in practice
she said that she went on a course that informed her that children worry when they have bad news and that can be counter prodive when they learn
It was proposed that when the little cherubs wrote a piece of work with 20 spelling mistakes ...they would be told about three.... because that was managable
and work wouldnt be marked in red pen because it is upsetting to see red marks over your work
work would be marked in purple.
The idea was not to upset the kids and therefore create happier children.
Re: You can say eff you in Britain's Secondary School System
Screw u pindi!
But I remember in highschool some kid brought a water gun and nobody knew about it, till some narks told on him, and got him expelled. Of course the narks were ostracized, and then the school newspaper published in article in the narks' defence. God I hated high school. So much control by the administration on the students and teachers. It's much better in college, there's room to breathe.
Re: You can say eff you in Britain’s Secondary School System
Did those “narks” know that it was a water pistol? Was the guy passing it off as a real gun? If it’s the latter, they had every right to tell on him… if someone brought a gun, showed me, told me it was real, i’d report his ass to the police.
ive notced this a lot… why is it so wrong to tell the proper authorities anything? From when ur kids and ur known as a tattle tale if the kids amke fun of u, to even in the newspaper, they call those guys in the mob “rats”..
Re: You can say eff you in Britain’s Secondary School System
Yes something that’s colorful and has water in it is usually a water gun
Those narks had a personal vendetta against this kid, and of course that was never taken into consideration.
Re: You can say eff you in Britain's Secondary School System
Thats nowt to worry about, Iv had a 6 year old telling me to eff off too, she said this inbetween calling be a bi*ch and a cow. And all this just for asking her not to call me a Paki. Children are such fun!
Re: You can say eff you in Britain's Secondary School System
There should be no tolerance for profanity. No matter where you are.
I will never understand the need for the eff word. Nor will I understand how the use of it should make the point you are trying to make any more clearly or effectively.
