pin-kakay, if its between them and their so-called God then shouldn’t they just print 1 book each and mail it to God. if they think they have the right to tell the world about the wrongs of islam then obviously others have the rights to correct the wrongs they have in their evil-hearts and minds.
^ I m a muslim as I said on certain days. It is between me and allah mian..yu don't count. You non-muslim!!
The people you mentioned might find you to be non-muslim. What then? just by them saying so, makes you a non-muslim or vice versa. Religion is a personal thing. between you and your God. nothing else matters, especially when uttered by intolerant fundo fools.
Islamic fundamentalist wud be someone who knows the fundamentals of Islam and hence cud be well trusted for knowing better abuot who a muslim is and who is not....
But what is the reality is that islamic fundamentalist is someone whose main purpose in life is to call others non-muslim, carry a chip on their shoulder as to why they are costantly being persecuted and worry about why women shouldn’t wear a skirt/shorts while playing tennis in 99 degree weather. the only difference between islamic fundos who espouse the above values and those who end on the front page of the NYtimes is that the latter have the moral conviction to atleast blow themselves up. the former is all yada yada yada..as you said.
^ the reality is on the front pages of newspapers and plastered all over this forum. this is hardly space techonology...this is faith and relationship between an individual and their God. and there is no room for fundo wannabe mullahs to opine as to that reltionship. You don't count.
This is dangerous preposition and one that has led to soo much intolerance in the Muslim world.
Going by the same logic, one can argue that basically everyone who doesn’t follow my school of thought is not Muslim.
Those who argue 3 farz dailay prayers can be regarded as non-Muslims by those who consider 5 to be the actual number. Those who disregard the hadiths will be considered non-Muslim. Those who argue eating jhatka as halaal food will be considered non-Muslim and the list goes on and on and in the end only I will remain a Muslim and no more.
Personally, I avoid it as much as I can (calling others non-muslim) cuz only Allah knows whats in someones heart. And I think its a big gunnah to call someone kafir. But there are basic principles of Islam and being a muslim, if you dont follow them, you are not a muslim; simple as that. If you dont believe in the Quran or Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) to be the last prophet, you are not a muslim. If you commit shirk, you are not a muslim. And not praying, not following comands from the Quran, etc are just sins you are commiting.
If someone told me i am not muslim, I would give em the defination of Muslim and prove to them that I am. If I dont follow the basic principles then I wouldnt have a problem with it.
Okay....stop for a minute.
This is precisely what I wanted to target.
armughal....
If PD is no authority on Islam, then when he calls you a non-Muslim, it should have zero impact on you.
PD....
If a fundamentalist is no authority because he is judging others by his own perception of Islam, then by the same token, you are no authority either.
And here's another twist to the Tropicana.....
By my standards, neither one of you is qualified to pronounce anyone Muslim or otherwise.
^
muzna dear sorry to disappoint u, but whenever any sensible person wishes to know whether a particular person is muslim or not, he will consult a scholar of Islam....
and most scholars wud be on my side....
ahmadjee, anyone who consider only 3 fardh prayers in a day, is also not a muslim....
also note, shiaas dont consider 3 fardh prayers in a day, they also pray 5: if that is what u were pointing at....
There is no single school of thought, even amongst mainstream shias, that says Wine is Halaal. Its a proven and widely believed in orthodox and mainstream Islam that alchoholic drinks are Haraam.
Now if a muslim would argue that, “NO it is Halaal”. Than he will be a Kafir(unbeliever) and his Kufr(disbelief) will be like the one accepts one part of the Book and rejects the rest.
Muznee, thanks for proving my point. I am not out there telling people whether they ar emuslims or not or jews o rchristians or not. Nobody’s views count on the relationship between you and your God.
Sharaabi talks bout selective adaptation…good point. Any of you own credit cards? Bunch of kufrs
1-- it really doesn’t bother me, maybe they feel insecure or something with whatever they are practing and to feel better they make such lame comments.
2-- Ofcourse except for allah no one has this right but some people think being a Muslim they have right to judge other people without even knowing them.
3-- No it does not, I am what I am and will always be that despite what people think of me.
4-- depends on the person who is issuing fatwa and its impact on everyone’s life. If it complies with the actual islamic teachings then probably yes.
Pidi, there are many who dont own credit cards, and there are many who do own credit cards, but pay it all off at the end of the month, thats what my dad does.
And then there are those muslims who do deal in interest. Some believe that its haraam, and they still do it cause of the various factors. Allah will be their judge...whilst there are other muslims who will continuously argue that bank interest is halaal, and this is clear kufr.
So owning a creditcard wont make them a kaafir right away.
btw..pidi, the correct statement would have been..."bunch of kaafirs".
One only needs to look around at all the boozers or womanizers or fashion model wannabes...they may not practice Islam but it's easy to think that they may hav some attachment to it.
I suppose the knee-jerk reaction in calling these types non-Muslims has more to do with our inability to communicate a counter message to the one the public appearance of these people conveys...namely, it's OKAY to be a dunkard or whatever. So, we overcompensate. And there's no stronger way to condemn these people in an Islamic society than to label them as traitors (i.e. non-muslim).
