Yesterday In Kabul

There was a procession against all the Foregners working in Kabul. Especialy they were against Pakistanis, the demand was, they should be taken off the Afghanistan.
They were also angry why karzai is in Pakistan…

We had to Take the Alternate way to Residence. :bummer:

There is a lot of tension between Karzai and the rest of his government which is 90% Farsiwan. Recently Karzai has stepped on two giants of the Northern Alliance, Fahim and Ismail Khan. Ismail Khan who is a major power holder amongst the Tajiks has been recently overrun by Pashtun commander Amanullah loyal to Karzai. Herat is soon to fall into the hands of the Pashtuns. The only thing stopping it is Rabbani and Sayyaf lip service to Karzai. Fahim has been kicked out from running for presidency and Fahim is no average joe shmo.

Ppl of Herat are Farsi Speaking but they consider themselves Pukhtuns, so.. U might be Right... For Herat...

Khyber TV had an Interview with Karzai yesterda ... and.... I seems to be , Musharaf will Suport him...

For Karzai.. It would be better he he could, have the presidency without Involving Atleast Ahmad Zia... coz... He will be pressure on him even if he win the election ... kana :)

Dude you need to be more active at our forum as you can always provide us a first hand knowledge of what is going on inside kabul.... some time one gets sick of cnn.com, bbc.com and of course ptv.com......I am assuming that you started this thread from Kabul...and if so, some of very general questions that I have are:

1)If nothing else, please tell us how is life in Kabul?
2)Are u living right in Kabul? You mind telling us what exactly are you doing there? Do u feel safe? Karzai has invited Pakistani businessmen to come and do business in Kabul. Do You think it is possible for Pakistan businessmen?

3)Are US soldiers making any difference in terms of peace making? How a common afghan in Kabul feels about US forces?

4)Is there any support among afghan masses for Taliban?

5)Is there a hatred among afghans for Pakistan?

6)Is Indian influence increasing ?

sorry for asking so many questions but all of us are so sick of hearing stuff from government sources......your information would be so valuable....thanks

Sir... Ba saro Chasham... :)
I am normaly Roaming around in all Forums.. U can call me awaragard ;)

UR Questions... are more than welcome :)

Will answer all Shortly.. :D

1)If nothing else, please tell us how is life in Kabul?

Llif in Kabul is okie.. its on Routine.. not bad… although it toooooooooooooo expenssive. Security wise its not safe much coz of Rocket fires, we had few rockets Fired last month on Mail Kabul City.. but with Grace af Almighty no cacualty only one person injured.
The Rest is okie.. Lot of Ppl working.. business.. constructions etc etc

2)Are u living right in Kabul? You mind telling us what exactly are you doing there? Do u feel safe? Karzai has invited Pakistani businessmen to come and do business in Kabul. Do You think it is possible for Pakistan businessmen?

Yups… Ia m living in Kabul… The Heart of the City in Shahre Naw.. and.. I am on JOB here.. I have one year contract with US based NGO working for Education.
Well as long as the SAFE Is concern, NO place is Safe when its UR TURN  But.. as far as the political situation is concern, its not good for especialy Pakistanis.
The Reason is the PPL in power are mostly Pro-Indian so they dont like Pakistan.
And… its not True that all Afghanis Hate Pakistan… I know lots of ppl who love Pakistanis very much.

I dont know the paper work figures.. BUT.. as far as I can see here, MOstly the business is with PAKISTAN and IRAN. Initialy it was thought that due to Pro-Indian Gov, India will penetrate more than Pakistan, but the ground Realities are diff… Pakistan is taking considerable amount of business from Afghanistan… Far Far more then India.

As far the invitation is concern… Ya.. its a good opertunity for Pakistanis, but not now… I would suggest not to come to Kabul before Election… Coz the situation is getting worse day by day.. So.. It will be Safe to Look for the Election, if the GOV is stable.. then.. They should come…

I hope the Situation will become Stable after Election…

More Answers Later…

Saath Saath Kaam bhi karna chahye na

bhot bhot shukrya golden bhaiya…i am glad to see gupshup network extending up to kabul… and your information is really valuable as it is based on first hand knowledge…i used to think that kabul is still a dead city with terror all over but it seems to me that I was absolutely wrong. The city is actually moving in forward direction… a lot of construction is going on and the fact that you been able to connect to internet from Kabul on regular basis itself suggests that the city is now wired. it is also so good to know that pakis are getting far more business than Indians ( no offence to Indian guppies but healthy competition between both arch rivals is a MUST no matter what). Indians are considered to be very shrewd businessmen and it is not easy to beat them but I guess Pakistan has an edge because of easier/direct access to Afghanistan.

Keep in touch and keep us posted. Thanks again for answering questions. ( and don’t forget there are still some questions unanswered…)

Still far from a safe place though innit man.

Sunday, 29 August, 2004, 15:49 GMT 16:49 UK : At least seven people have been killed in a powerful explosion in central Kabul, Afghan officials say.

yeah and all the afghanis in pak should just go back to afghanistan

First of All… The.. EYE WITNESS Details of The KAbul Blast…

You might have heard it in News… BUT.. I was there ..

The Blast was almost 300 meter away from where I live… All our the area the glases were broken..

The Kabul Official Declares 7 killed.. but.. Other Agencies said.. total 15 killed.. we will get more details ..

And… Phoenix Dear… Sure.. yar.. I will be Shortly on other Answers

Okie… more Answers..

3)Are US soldiers making any difference in terms of peace making? How a common afghan in Kabul feels about US forces?

Well… I would Say fifty Fifty… Coz.. They are trying to control the area, and In Kabul City the environement was almost safe two months ago.. but now, its not, the security situation is getting worse day by day.
ANd… you can hardly see any US soldier out in the City… U will only see them sometimes .. Mostly you will se… Philipinos and Mostly Turkish Soldiers in Tank Like Cars fully loaded with weapons.

Comon Afghan in Kabul… Hummm… Practicaly and Frankly Speaking.. As Majority of the Kabul ppl either afghan, Pakistanis, Indians or watever nationality… They are working for US companies and NGOs. So… They are also part of the US administration… SO… They Dont Feel Bad abt US Forces… COZ.. atleast they have made Kabul a Live City again after almost 25 yrs.

4)Is there any support among afghan masses for Taliban?

NO one can say this for sure… some of them still support them while they are discussing the Taliban Gov… Some of them just Hates them…
As Talibans were Pukhtuns.. so.. Non Pashto Speaking ppl realy Hate them…
For Pukhtuns here, I would say.. Some supports them verbaly and some not… So.. its not a simple 1+1 situation

5)Is there a hatred among afghans for Pakistan?

The Short Answer will be YES…

BUT… Not all of them hate Pakistanis, Majority of the Pukhtuns like Pakistanis.. and Majority of Non Pukhtuns simpley Hate Pakistanis..

But.. as I said.. MAJORITY for both… I know many Pukhtun Ppl who Hate Pakistanis and.. I know Many Non Pukhtuns who are good to Pakistanis.

I have lots of very good Frends Even from Shumali Aeras.. and they have always supported me when ever I needed them.

6)Is Indian influence increasing ?

The Simple Answer for this.. is … NO

I dont think … its increasing… Coz.. If U look at the current circumstances in Afghanistan… the Northern PPl is lossing Power, they are not as powerful as they were shortly after the US control in the area.

When I was first here in Kabul. . almost 2.5 yrs ago.. the environement was almost Indian Influenced… BUT.. now.. Its not That much.. Although offcousre as the Gov is still Pro Indians so they have more influence than Pakistan… BUT.. I wont say Its Increasing…

Actualy its not GUPSHUP network extended to Kabul.. Its .. that… a GUPPY is here in Kabul

And… Kabul is not a Dead City at all… If You see the Traffic here… It simply too much… Everywhere lots of Ppl… Lots of Business…

The Internet is not bad here… Although I have my own VSAT  So.. dont be astonished if I get online regularly.. or to be more precise .. I am online all day…

Here we have Three ISPs… One only Provides Dialup.. but that is not so good… In Remaining two.. One Provieds Dialup as well as Wireless and one Only Wireless… So .. the Internet communication system is not bad in Kabul now.. You will see lots of Internet Cafes… BUT.. offcourse.. they Charge you much
