Re: Yemen! anyone?

Where in Yemen?

Re: Yemen! anyone?

its ugly and pathetic

Re: Yemen! anyone?

Always wanted to go. But never been. Watched a few documentaries on it on TV. Seems like a mostly poor country with a lot of wants and very few opportunities.

Re: Yemen! anyone?

I have lived there for quite a few years as a kid. Though I have heard it has changed quite a bit.

It is not ugly and pathetic. Yes, it is a poor country and like every poor country it has its issues but it is not ugly or pathetic.

Re: Yemen! anyone?

People living in and among the "towers" might find it ugly and pathetic.

Tarim is the most blessed city in Yemen as Prophet Muhammad(SAW) made dua for this place and it's people. This city has produced so many great Muslim Scholars and even today Tarim is famous for it's Islamic Institutions like Dar-ul-Mustafa.

The capital of Yemen, Sanaa has got all the modern luxuries but Tarim has hardly changed and it is still like it was in the days of Prophet(SAW).

Re: Yemen! anyone?

Sorry guys, I apologies for my statement. I based my statement on what I have seen of Yemen and of their ppl, I should not have said that for the whole Yemen.

Re: Yemen! anyone?

Buildings in Sanaa's old city are worth visiting. Unique architecture.

Sounds like a nice place.............Thanks Lusi!

Good to know it has decent people and scholastic accomplishment history.......Thanks Hareem!

Plus I hear the Best Coffee in the World comes from Yemen...............thanks mustana!

Re: Yemen! anyone?

I went there with the hubby whilst on travels... we went to Sanaa as we have a few friends rom there... its like any other 'metropolitan city' in a developing country... huge rich/poor divide etc... but yeah it has beautiful architecture and the capital has all the luxuries a westerner would need..... but the most enjoyable part of yemen for me was going out of the city was nice living in a huge bedouin tent in the middle of nowhere ... :)

Re: Yemen! anyone?

My cousin went there to learn Arabic. He said it was rich in culture and people over there are very interesting.

He had crazy stories to tell about rules and laws in Yemen.
