Re: Yelp my Brit mates
^ I was about to ask the same question as if I recall correctly desi ghee has a distinctive taste and smell which isn't really a cornish pasty. Anything is worth a shot. Never thought of using the ghee as a replacement fat in pastries though, I always thought it was way too greasy for those type of recipes.
Re: Yelp my Brit mates
I didn't get the time to make them yet. I am going to try tomorrow. Been busy but once I do make them I will post the results in this thread.
Re: Yelp my Brit mates
yea, i wouldn't use desi ghee personally.
Re: Yelp my Brit mates
OK so should I just go and buy shortening then? :/
Re: Yelp my Brit mates
just substitute it with butter. you can try vegetable shortening another time. you can see what makes better pastry for you.
we do the same as Princess1983 suggested and use butter and stork... i don't know what the equivalent would be there.
Re: Yelp my Brit mates
Yeh that would be better since I don't want to waste the Afternoon experimenting. I will just use butter.
Re: Yelp my Brit mates
Just use vegetable shortning! Asda
Re: Yelp my Brit mates
