maiyun is where you always wear yellow, however yellow is still the popular color for mehndi when green makes more sense because its the color of “mehndi” and yellow has already been worn on the maiyun…
i like yellow, because its a “pure” color…its the color of haldi, and usually brides don’t wear alot of makeup whent hey wear yellow
however girls in green anarkali’s or simple green salwar kameez on their mehndi look so beautiful…

the reason yellow is more popular is based on the tradition that the bride wear yellow from the day of her mayun until her wedding day (in theory the same yellow outfit the entire time!). she's also supposed to stay inside and not seen, while she is regularly massaged, oiled, and exfoliated. obviously many of those traditions are not or can not be done today. but many people do still follow this.
i wore yellow for my mehndi, but we did not have a proper mayun. i think the olive green or earthy green sort of color also looks nice. you could also mix. wear what you like!!
