Re: Yeh na thi hamaari qismat ....

I first read it a long time back, maybe more than a decade ago.

Some pieces of writing makes you giggle endlessly, this is one of them.

I am diehard fan of Ibn-e-insha. His poetry and prose both are superb, although his porse is 100% humour and fun although poetry is romantic, deep and spellbounnding.

I now realize that the text book for urdu in 9th 10th grade (Muraqa-e-adab) in pakistan was really good quality collection of literary work in urdu.

Re: Yeh na thi hamaari qismat …

This is so true… After reading “kuttay” aur “SaweraY jo kal aankh meri khulli” made me get “Patras kay mazaameen” and read it fully…

similarly, “Madam Tusaao kaa Momi ajaaib ghar,” “London,” and likes made me read Ibn-e-Insha …

“Khuaja Sug parast” made me read the whole story of “Qissa chahaar dervaish” by Meer Amman Dehlvi…

The list is endless…

I actually ended up reading books of Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Mushtaq Yousufi, Ata-ul-Haq Qasimi, A. Hameed, Mustansar Hussain Tarrar and God knows how many…

Urdu is a great language!!!

Re: Yeh na thi hamaari qismat …

You can ask about each and every word that you found difficult. I will gladly translate it and will try to pronounce it in roman urdu.

This is an open offer for everyone

Sara - There is nothing sad in the story, it is amusing piece of literature. Called mazahia adab.
If you are interested in reading urdu, i can refer you very easy and short stories.

Re: Yeh na thi hamaari qismat ....

Re: Yeh na thi hamaari qismat …

But when it comes to Tanz-o-Mizah, i believe no one can beat Shafiq-Ur-Rehman.
