If it was the KP factor, how do you explain the inclusion of Romesh Powar.

I am not a Harbhajan fan. I was reading somewhere that he has an average of only 1 wicket/match in the last 40 ODIs (If I remember correctly). But yes, he has been our star batsman a few times !!

What surprises me, though, is that there was supposed to be a mass clean up of the Indian team (infusion of youngsters etc) after the World Cup disaster. Instead, it seems like all the blame has been put on Greg Chappel's door-step and it is back to "life as usual".

Tendulkar was PATHETIC in Bangladesh. Yes, I know , he won the Man of the Series Award. What an irony....it is not only that Tendu made two painfully slow centuries (when there was zero pressure), he was playing Bangladesh bowlers as if they were all McGraths. He was in all sorts of trouble against Mortaza's short deliveries. If it was only cricketing reasons the selectors looked at, he should have really been kicked out....but then he is TENDULKAR , next only to GOD. So, after his "scintillating performance" in BD, he has been recalled even for ODIs for which his-highness was previously "rested".

Also, I am not sure what the selectors have against Yuvraj. He is our finest after Dravid and has proven his potential time and again. Yet he is overlooked for Vice-Captainship in favor of the flat-track bully Dhoni.

Yuvraj should really be groomed as future captain. He has great temperament and delivered solidly when he was made the Vice-Captain in the Pak tour (the one previous to the last one - which India won). But the morons in the selection committee don't get it.

Well correct me if i am wrong, but in Indian fan circle isnt Pawar considered someone who bowls a few over as regualr off spinner but can provide some good support as lower order batsman? Not that Harbhajan is bad #9 or #10. But i think Pawar is considered more of batting talent than Harbhajan.

I do not know what directions Indian selectors are heading by having dhoni as VC, in long run Youvraj makes perfect sense as VC, has dhonie done any good with batting outside Subcontinent, not counting WI?? His keeping has never been impressive, infact Kamran who is probably gong through the worse phase of his career still will do better behind the stumps than dhoni. When i saw dhoni for first time, yeah he looked entertaining, but to no means he looked like someone who was going to be around for 5-6 years, to me he just looked another one of those Amy Khurasya kindaa player. I am (gladly, as cricket fan) surprise that he has stayed around for as long as he has had, but maybe i need to change the way i think coz inthese days cricket an average batsman can play for longer period of time career wise than someone from late 80's early-mid90's as there are so much cricket being played with team with low quality bowling attacks so that when someone Like dhoni with all the flaws in his technique is bound to run into couple of games a season when the bowlers will be on his mercy and that twice, thrice performace a series will easily be good enough for selectors+people to keep him in the team.

You must be kidding. I have rarely seen Dhoni missing a catch or stumping. Just because he is a good batsman dont automatically assume that he is bad keeper. Comparision with butter finger Kamran is funny..

Show me when was the last time he bowled well outside subcontinent. BCCI has made lot of bad decisions in recent past but dropping Harbhajan is one of the best thing they have done.

My big issue with this team selection is

  1. Why keep Gangu, Sachin etc in ODI team when they are not going to be around till 2011 worldcup. They should have continued with the ODI team that played in Bangladesh.

  2. Sehwag should have been in test team. I think his test performance has been fine. India will have serious issue with Openers in test matches in England.

  3. Agarkar over Munaf :smack: I guess Munaf bhai have pissed of lot of people by not being honest with his injuries.

Man i doonoo how to convince you, I think your keeping standards are defined by watching Rahul Dravid keep wickets, so that is why you are satisfied with Dhoni as keeper!

yeah you can say Kumble from AUS 03, and ENg 02, but has an india bowler (spinner or Medium) ever done well outside India???

I agree with ur opinion on Sachin, i think like i want Akhter only for test matches, india should only play Sachin in test matches too, that is good for Sachin and more importantly Good for India.

Why isthat in India you are “the Next Best thing” before even you play onefull season for your country and less than 2 seasons later you are not even in list of 17 or 22?? This(accepting this behavior from selector+rest of people) to me has always summedup the mentality of average indian cricket and has always comforted me that Pak cricket will stay ahead of indian cricket. But for the sake of Indian cricket this needs to change!

Kumble did it many time and Bhajji never did it. That is the difference. If some one has played cricket for country for 10 years he is supposed to do better than that. I am glad sardar is out.

Go and check how many catches Kamran has dropped in las few series and then check what Dhoni has done. Comeback to me and then discuss it.
By the way did you see the last ODI between Asia and Africa eleven. I am sure you saw those 3 stumpings.

**Grade B **(Rs 35 lakh/yr plus match fee)
Laxman, Harbhajan, Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar.
**Grade C **(Rs 20 lakh/yr plus match fee)
Gambhir, Jaffer, Sreesanth, Zaheer, Suresh Raina, Munaf Patel.

Can it get more ridiculous…
The a-hole Agarkar is in Grade B while Zaheer Khan continues to languish in Grade C
