this song is still quite popular, but for some reason people dont really know the lyrics beyond the first stanza
I believe this was the song that launched him nationwide, though he had sung a few ghazals before. His first album, ‘Ali in Action’ (name probably inspired by Mohammed Ali, the boxer) is supposed to have been a huge hit, but I am afraid I do not know which songs were in it. If anyone knows, please let me know. Perhaps it was not “Mein bhi Pakistan Hoon” but some other song which made him a household name from his first album.

Shehki was the one of the original POP singers of Pakistan, along with Alamgir offcourse. Those were the days of meaningfull lyrics and wonderful musical compositions. Then that MAD CROWD took over :yukh: , save for a few really talented ones like Sajjad Ali, Vital Signs, Junoon and some others.
Interestingly, Shehki was also the pioneer behind the NET CAFE idea. He opened the first internet cafe in Karachi, which actually was a NET CAFE 
, with tea and samoosas served in the cubicles

Long time back, I had Ali in Action and another album by Shehki which might have been released before Ali in Action. Both the albums or the latter included "re-makes" of number of hits by Kishore. The ones that I vividly remember are:
- Meray Mehbood Qiamat ho gee
- Rim Jhim giray sawan
Ali in Action contained original numbers as well. Besides Mein Bhi Pakistan Hoon, another song was
Too akayla, too mayn akayla
yey mausam..... Aa zara dekh lay
too bhi yey soch lay..... sath hai yey kaisa
However his most popular song back then was Mein bhi Pakistan hoon. Another one that was recorded for PTV was the one in which he had a tennis racket in his hand and he is saying something to a cute girl. The only thing that I remember is that the girl would respond by saying something that whatever he (Shehki) has to say, he should say quickly because: ....... ghar bhee jana hai!
