Its that time of the year when everyone starts making the list of new year resolution. But how about the ones you made last time for 2016? Where are you with that?

2016 was a good year for me on a personal level. I am so surprised that desis don’t make relationship goals. I also make relationship goals like how I wan’t my relationship to be with my children and wife.

You should though, also 5 yr and ten years and what kind of life you would like when you are old and what will be your legacy. They say people who write their goals down have a much greater chance of seeing them met.

Haha, very nice. On serious note adversity makes us stronger. As they say when the going gets tough, tough get going. Our goal should be that we rise head and shoulder above the crowd and rather people looking down on us and our children they should look up to us.

I make relationship goals, but they have nothing to do with the year… They are made when I feel the need to make them and Alhumdulillah I see them through

Good for you, you do seem like a very smart young lady. Between going to my therapist and attending a hundred self development courses I have become kind of a psychologist myself. They say goals have to be S.M.A.R.T so essentially they have to be time oriented and need to be reexamined.
I would love to hear an example of relationship goal that you succeeded in? I have been very successful in my goals with my children but with my wife the only way we have a great relationship is to not expect anything from her and just picking the slack. In the end I figured that someones love is worth a lot more than just pitching in a lot more than your share.

- To forgive and go out of your way to do good to the people who hurt you (relatives).
- To enjoy hosting people (relatives) frequently(at least once a week) … Either way you are hosting, so just enjoy it. Makes the experience better for all concerned.
- Just do what your parents want you to and make them happy.
There are a few more things but I guess these are enough for now.

You are a saint!! I had made the opposite goals and thrust happiness in my life and it was to get rid of all negative people in my life and to stop socializing in the community. One of my goal was to live my life on my own terms and not let parents dictate to me how to live my life. I was the only child who looked after them but I refused to let anyone tell me how to live my life. I forgave my siblings but didn’t forget what they did to us. Desis can be so cruel and insensitive. Sometimes parents unhappiness is a form of control. I gave up all my control this year when my boy turned 18.
